Hi,
I'm a Pitta-Vata Dosha
and a B positive blood type.

The diet seems to be contradictory sometimes ...

EXAMPLE:
B positive blood tells me to AVOID:
Sesame oil, Sunflower seed oil. Cashews, Pistachio, Poppy seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame butter,
Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Red LENTILS, Peas, Black beans, Barley, Amaranth, Wheat bran,
Whole wheat bread, Artichoke, Avocado, Tofu, Coconuts, Pomegranates, Cinnamon, Black pepper, Fenugreek ... etc ....
All the while ...

PITTA and VATA dosha says that the following r ideal for me instead ...
Black beans, Barley, Amaranth, Wheat, Avocado, Red LENTILS, Sunflower seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Cinnamon,
Black pepper, Coconut and lots more ... etc ...

What do u think Shelley??
ur humble opinion means ALOT to me Very Happy

Great question. It's one I've pondered a lot and tested a lot myself.

My take is that while I adore Ayurvedic medicine, their prohibitions on foods are not always accurate. The blood type diet, however, is based on solid research and a real genetic marker, so I follow those recommendations more when it comes to accenting or avoiding specific foods, unless of course, they put down Kichadi. Wink

What I do Ayurvedic wise is follow the recommendations for how to fix the foods and cycle my food choices and cooking styles based on the weather, tongue coating and energy level.

Does that make sense? Smile

YES OF COURSE IT DOES !!!

So basically we need to PERSONALIZE our diets and see what works for us while sticking
to something that is based on solid research and a real genetic marker as a starting point ...
Wink

however; my blood types has many restrictions and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE POLENTA !!!
As well as Sesame butter, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Peas, Black beans, Barley,
Wheat bran, Whole wheat bread, Avocado, Tofu, Coconuts, Cinnamon ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I think everything in MODERATION is also key Very Happy

AND IF I'M GONNA CHEAT THEN EAT LITTLE PORTIONS or at least i will try my best !!!!

THANKS SHELLY, u're one in a million Very Happy

Yes, this blood type diet buisness is VERY frustrating!

Ive only just been looking into it and it says avoid so many things!

Kidney beans, lentils, caviar (for my iodine), coconut oil, wheat germ oil, olives, aloe, nearly ALL cheeses including yoghurt (and kefir?) Sad, psyllium flax (what do I put in my fibre shake?!) zinc, MSM, fish oils, colostrum, apples, avocados!

Thats not even the half of it.

Its always hard to accept that you've been trying to be healthy, and by some peoples rules you are and by others you arent and you have to try to pick which one...frustrations! Wink

Hello !!
I would like to make a correction
: Barley and green peas r neutral for B blood and NOT an avoid ;
as it was originally stated in one of Dr. D'Adamo's earlier books and Fenugreek is ok in a protocol ...
Thanks Very Happy
