This topic has been coming up a lot of late. Lots of us have problems with oily skin, acne, glands that just produce too many oils. Obviously, it's best to avoid bad fats (rancid fats like bottled dressings and marinades, cured meats, canola oil, margarine) but you also have to help your body metabolize the essential fats your skin needs for vital health.

The cheapest and tastiest way to do this is with a blueberry smoothie. Blueberries are chock full of pterostilbene, a compound that tells the body to break down fats and cholesterol. They're even more potent than red wine - take that, Europe! Wink

So take 1/2 to 1 cup of preferably fresh blueberries (but frozen will work as well) and throw them in the blender along with:

6-8 ounces of Kefir or Coconut Milk
1/2 scoop of Nutritional Yeast Flakes
teaspoon of wheat germ oil
1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup, or Stevia to taste
and take with a B vitamin complex, or just Bioton and Folic Acid

It will come out rather gloppy - but tasty!!! You can add ice if you like to water it down. This is also an excellent way to add easy-to-pass fiber to your diet.

I just tried this shake. It's delicious! I added about 2oz. of vanilla rice milk to thin it out. Very light and tasty, I must say.
