Not sure if this is the best forum for this but I'll put it here...

In general, I don't think anger facilitates healing, rather it stifles it. For the rest of my life though, I find it inspirational and a source of energy and power. I don't know if anyone is aware of how you can use your anger and hate as fuel, but I find it extremely motivational and it's done some good things for me.

When I got sick I trusted the medical establishment to heal me, I'm sure I don't need to explain how wrong I was or elaborate on how corrupt and evil the system is, all that's relevant is that it causes a lot of rage and hatred. I'm sure it has in anyone with a chronic illness to some degree. Now that they've failed me I'm past that and I'm turning to education and myself to heal me. I can use my anger to help do that in some ways. A tiny part of my anger provides all the willpower I'll need, fuels my desire to get healthy, and provides the strength I need to get through this. It does all this very well, but what I'm wondering is if it's not detrimental to my actual healing.

Should I be trying to let go of the anger? How can I do this? I'm worried that I'm going to have a big hole left if I get rid of it, and all kinds of things are going to suffer and leave me weaker and less able to deal with life.

Now this is a fascinating subject! Thanks for bringing it up. Smile

I think you do need to make a further distinction between anger and willpower. Anger can be subliminted into willpower and that's a good thing, but you can have willpower and develop willpower without anger, simply from a sense of right-ness and discernment.

If you have pH testing strips, check your saliva pH when you're angry, upset, mad, in a rage. You'll see it gets very acidic. People constantly in a rage don't get better as fast as people who are peaceful, tranquil.

Since I've given up drama (basically you just gotta affirm this out loud and then fake it until you make it), I find I need much less food. Fasting used to be nearly impossible, now it's no problem. Motivation is not a problem either. What waits on the other side of anger is powerful and empowering, not weakening!

It's part of the hero journey. The hero can afford to have unbridled anger and rage, and it is often to the larger good. But after a time of evolutionary growth, it's time to stop being Jedi Apprentice and be Jedi Master. The Mentor is a very powerful archetype, one doesn't tend to associate Obi-Wan with weakness even tho he had his anger under control, right? Wink

So yes, letting the anger go is important. How you do that is up to you - we all have our preferences! Smile I do little rituals that help me get the tirade OUT of my mind - like writing everything down on a piece of paper and then burning it.

Flower essences, MAP, emotional release therapy, spinal adjustments, massage, help release stored emotion. We tend to store anger in the liver and spinal column, so posture and liver management helps.

Be aware that it takes awhile for the nervous system to upgrade its neurons. When we live by anger and other emotions, our neuron's receptor sites tend to downgrade to accept these emotions rather than other things like joy and nutrition. Until we can replace the old cells with new, upgraded cells, we tend to feel depression and even withdrawal symptoms. It can take a few months of depression before we find a happy peaceful feeling. St. John's Wort is often quite helpful at this stage, but only take it if you're serious about giving up the emotional roller coaster.

Hope that helps! Smile
