Hiya, could someone please tell me what kind/brand of Wheat Germ Oil they use?....because I'm having such a hard time finding something that I think will be okay to use. (Also, I can't seem to get much info by searching this site).

On the net I have found one by 'Now' brand and another by Viobin brand wheat germ oil.

What kind do you guys use?

I've heard this stuff tastes pretty bad, so is it only to be taken by a spoon or put into a smoothie/drink?

How much do you take a day?
One last thing, does this oil have gluten....it's taken from a wheat berry , right? Just a bit worried.

Thanks so much Smile

I don't recommend wheat germ, I recommend wheat germ oil however if refrigerated and in a black, opaque bottle.

Wheat germ is not properly packaged or stored, so quickly goes rancid which is why it tastes like shit. It also has the wheat proteins which most candida people and all celiac people are severaly allergic to. The cost and poor taste and risk to the immune system weighed against the miniscule benefits means I won't waste anyone's time and hard-earned money by recommending it.

Oops, I meant to title my post wheat germ OIL ;- )
But thanks for teaching me about both! Well, since the wheat germ definately has the gluten, does that mean wheat germ OIL have wheat proteins too? Oh, and I'm wondering what kind/brand you like using? You buy yours in a health store, right?....Cause I was thinking of ordering the oil, but I guess it must be kept refrigerated and store bought instead.

Alittle off topic, but since I'm starting to take cod liver oil, I can't take both of these the same day, am I right? What about taking them at different times of the day, would it still work? It's just because I would really like to get the Vit A everyday if I can, and the E would be nice too Smile

wheat germ oil doesn't have gluten. Gluten is a protein, there are no proteins in oils, oils are nothing but fats. Still, it's not a great idea to use wheat germ oil in large amounts if you have celiac disease.

Any brand that is stored in a black, opaque bottle in the refrigerated section is fine. Any brand that isn't is worthless. Wheat germ oil goes rancid very very quickly.
