I may be going out that way next month for a teacher thing. I think it's in North Oakland, or Downtown, about 10 miles from the airport. I'll be staying overnight. Any tips on where to stay or where to eat would be appreciated! |

Hi Shelley,
First where is your meeting going to take place?
Second what kind food do you like?
I live in Alameda which is right next to Oakland. In fact I am close to the Oakland Airport. Just ten minutes away.

| The meeting is in the Marcus Foster building, on West street between 28th and 29th. I guess that's not a very nice part of town. Maybe I'll stay in Berkeley. |

| I'm south of Oakland...and since you seem to enjoy Thai food, I recommend the Chaam, in Berkeley; it got high marks in Zagat. |

Hi Shelley,
There is very little smog in the Bay area. The daily fog is our natural air conditioner. We get most evening. The wind pushes the fog from the Pacific Ocean thru the Bay area into the Valley.
Yes you are correct in saying that the Marcus Foster Bldg is in a very dubious area. Most of Berkeley is okay.
