Hello everyone and a special welcome to all the newbies who joined while I was taking a break! I hope to get to know you all.
This last Saturday I gave myself a huge challenge, physically. Since I'm the type of person who buys a gym membership then never goes - and I can't afford to do that anymore - I decided to get a part-time job that has greater physical demands than I'm used to dealing with in order to get my workout.
Summer is wedding season and all sorts of companies need help with catering to their Bridezilla clients. I ended up at a Yacht club in Newport Beach (very OC-ish!). At 2:00 pm I went in to help set up tables, dinnerware, water glasses, champagne flutes. I passed around the starters as the guests arrived. Luckily, it was buffet so I only had to take the plates off the table. I didn't get off until midnight! So basically I was run off my feet for ten hours with only a couple breaks. At the end of the evening we had to break down the tables and roll them downstairs. Great upper-body workout.
I am SORE today. Yesterday I took no less than 2 Epsom salt/baking soda baths.
But you know what? I feel fantastic! I got a great workout while making money rather than spending money, and I got to work with really interesting people of varied backgrounds.
I highly recommend doing something like this if you're trying to get your strength back. I'm sure your neighborhood has a catering company like Party Staffers that needs people. Check it out!
Special thanks goes to Sean for his donation. Every little bit helps! Please do use that Donation button when you can. I'm not working full-time currently as I'm getting my credentials updated so I can return to the classroom as a public school teacher, and that means studying like mad to pass expensive tests! argh!
Now that we're halfway through the year, how are you doing with your protocols? Is it time for you to flush? Have you flushed this year? Hmmmm?
Hugz to all!

Hi Shelley,
I firmly believe in getting your exercise from your work/hobbies if it's at all possible. Just like we strive to get all our vitamins and minerals from food, we should strive to get our exercise from our lifestyle. That's my opinion anyway. Gym is better than nothing, but I think the human body is better suited to sustained, moderate exercise rather than 30 min of madly pedaling a stationary bike.
I've never felt better than I did during the years I worked on organic farms. In fact, all my symtoms started concurrently with going back to school = stress and more sedantary lifestyle sitting at computers and under fluorescent lights all day. I'm looking forward to this summer when I'll be working as a landscaper again. |

Yes, the donation button is formatted weird - you have to be IN a forum to see it. So go into a forum but don't open a message thread and look around.
You can also just go to www.paypal.com and donate via my e-mail: shelley_delange@hotmail.com |

Yeps, fully agree with Shelley about this...cos I took up a cleaning job which is couple of hours a week so that could pay my daughters riding lessons (joys of sorting out the money due to being a single mom) and must say, it is almost therapeutic. It's such a change for my full-time office work cos I usually just sit around but when cleaning am actually doing a full body exercise....and getting money too |

Oh I know what you mean Shelley. I recently started working at one of the pubs here. Everything is great I really enjoy it, great view - to the sea you can see the sunsets, but, in every story there's a "but", we have this night shift (the pub is open 24/7) so it's kinda hard to keep up with " going to bed before 12" protocol.
I just renewed my gym membership, but with this work, like you said, I hardly need one. But then again, I'm one of those gym freaks, so I know I'll be using it. What can I do, can't help it
Here I am at my night shift, or what we like to call it - graveyard shift, it's nearly morning, the sunrise is about to occur. Wohoo.
Oh one more good thing, we have Internet access here, makes night shift so much easier.
Keep up the good work Shelley and don't work to much
