Hi Shelley,

You have a great new site with loads of wonderful information. Thank you so much.

I read that it was your birthday on the 4th of January, so belated happy birthday! Mine is on the 6th of January so we're sort of close that way.

I'm in a maintenance/rebuilding stage right now and have been following your suggestions and eating plenty of almond butter, dried apricots, yoghurt, kefir, cream, butter etc. I have just figured out that i'm probably Kapha as i do tend to get mucus, especially with dairy. I'm also a slow sort of person (but also stable Wink ) so those characteristics do tend to suit me best as a whole. I could never figure out which dosha i was before, as each different test i did gave me totally different results. It was only when i saw the general descriptions of each dosha type that i could find out which one i am!

This means i should probably cut back on the dairy Crying or Very sad and oils too. As a Kapha where should i get my fats? From fatty fish and from nuts?

Another question, i still have white spots on my fingernails. I thought this meant zinc deficiency (my blood tests over 6 months ago came back very low zinc also selenium) i have been supplementing with zinc ( 35 mg a day) but maybe i should take more and eat more zinc rich foods (more liver, beef, sesame and pumpkin seeds) Or can white spots be due to something else?

Thanks a million,

Hi Rozenkwarts

I read in Andreas Moritz`s book that white spots can also mean you are excreting too much calcium from your body.
I too have whiite spots and ridges plus beaus lines which appeared every time i had my amalgams replaced.
My ridges seem to be going/fading now and i guess i must be absorbing nutrients better as that is what they usually mean(lack of nutrients etc).
My white spots tend to appear in 3`s on each hand and usually only on my index, middle and ring fingers.
They do however grow out quickly but soon re-appear all at the same time.
HMMMMMHH!! Confused

The white spots on the nails are still under debate. www.acu-cell.com is the best source for information on vitamins, their research is top-notch. They say the white spots are not low zinc because they appear just as often in people with high zinc. The issue is usually digestive stress and acute stress more than any lack.

The recomendations for Kapha people in regards to oil are usually Ghee, almond, sunflower, safflower, in small amounts. But I modernize this a bit and say that everyone needs to have EVolive and EVcoconut and cod liver oil.

If you can't find Ghee, see if you can find European style organic butter. It is made entirely different than American or British butter and is not as mucus forming - and it tastes awesome! quite a treat. Smile
