The other day I was reading through Craig's List checking out the price of rooms in various areas where I'm applying for teaching jobs. Found an ad placed by vegetarian/vegans looking for someone to rent a room in their commune-style house. They said "we're all so very healthy that now all chemicals drive us crazy, so no cleansing products, perfume, etc., may be used."

This is a very common problem. People go on diets thinking the diets are healthy, and when they get worse, assume it's a sign of getting better! People, if you're reacting to everything around you, and you used to handle it fine, you are NOT getting better! You are not "more sensitive because you're cleaner." You're more sensitive because you're more messed up!!!

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is caused by a lack of Vitamin A and essential fatty acids, two things that are nearly impossible to get on a Vegan/Vegetarian diet! Once the body runs out of its stores, it can't protect you from the toxins we're surrounded by day after day.

The liver has to have lots of good oils in order to break down petrochemicals and insecticides. Petrochemicals are only fat soluble, which is why when oil tankers spill oil it floats on the surface of the ocean. Drinking water won't flush the body of any of the major toxins we get exposed to just by driving a car.

Vegetarians don't get any vitamin A. They get beta-carotene, which is nearly the same thing, but NOT. And if they get their carrots without any fats, the beta-carotene never turns into Vitamin A. So their cells start dying, literally. Vegans are slowly killing themselves by trying to be something their body was never meant to be. We are mammals. All mammals survive by eating other mammals or insects. It's a fact of life. Even so-called vegetarian animals are getting tons of protein, fats and B12 by eating insects and insect eggs.

You know, I have a friend that thinks he's being "healthy" by avoiding animal products for about a year now. He came home from Montana and his allergies really started to bother him... more than ever. I remember he used to take Clairton when he was younger, but I don't know when he stopped. Anyway, we all thought it was because he was used to the fresh air in Montana, and it's the complete opposite in Chicago. So, when he flew back, he called me up and said his allergy symptoms completely diminished. Do you think this is all because he's vegan? Confused
