bit of history to help clarify the questions

i am female, and overweight by about 90 pounds. I wasn't this way last year. I gained a lot of weight with a low thryoid problem and then was put into a stressful job where I used food for comfort.

Last Summer I did my first liver flushes .... I did one right before I started a 25 day master cleanse, and then attempted to do them once a month as described as the best protocol. I got out one huge stone (sized like a whole walnut) when I did the salt water flush for the Master Cleanse (even before ever doing a liver flush). During my flushes there were lots of pea size ones and by the 3rd flush it was mostly chaff with one or 2 tiny peas. The 4th flush I attemped I got sick to my stomach while in the middle of downing the oil/juice mix.

starting last fall (approx Nov) I started getting these pains in my right hand side, in the back, low under the shoulder blade right in the gallbladder area. It would start out like a muscle cramping up and then would go into that really sharp pain like when you get a muscle spasm in your calf. I tried everything I could think of. I tried another flush, which I couldnt even get down about 1/3 of the oil/juice before it came back (almost projectile style).

I tried malic acid, lethecin, ox bile, ES, liver cleansing herbs, gold coin grass... I still have the pain. The severity comes and goes in waves. In May of this year I went to a naturopath for the first time. Described what was going on... he sent me for a ultrasound to see if I had gallstones. The ulra sound report says that I dont have any at all.

If I don't have any, why do I keep getting these attacks? The last one I had was about 3 weeks ago and it was to the point the pain was so severe I was doubled over, was dizzy with a terrible headache, nausea, wicked heartburn and the cold sweats. I went to bed about 10 pm. I woke up at 3 up to rush to the bathroom where I spent about 30 minutes passing green bile...nothing else at all.

I felt better the next day and the pain seemed to lessen dramatically. That is until this past Thursday when it started again.... I was to the point where I am white knuckling it on the steering wheel while I am driving. The only thing that seemed to make it go away is eating a large quantity of good quality chocolate and some butter cookies.

What is happening to me and how do I make this stop??????

Liver flushes are out of the question as my body will not keep even a tablespoon of oil down. Not a fun experience to have something come back up as the rest is trying to go down. Sad

Please help!

I am really sorry to hear what you're going through.

You have to do some kind of flush. Have you done enemas after LF? This will help all the stones get out of the system.
You sad that one night you woke up at 3 up to rush to the bathroom where I spent about 30 minutes passing green bile. If you haven't do LF that night that leads me to think that you have some stones that are stuck.

Gallstones tend to form due to stagnation, try to take in a bit of oil in the early morning especially if you're eating a non-fat breakfast. Skipping breakfast lengthens your "fasting" time for the day and that tends to encourage gallstone creation.

Drink peppermint tea and lots of it! Broths would be good too, and other digestive aid teas like ginger, fennel. Keep to hot foods mostly. A porridge made from alternative grains is very soothing. Try to do mini flushes as prescribed in FAQ.

Take stone dissolvers - instructions in FAQ.
After that go with Shelley's advice for calming gallbladder. Here it is:
After about 7-10 days of taking these stone dissolvers, you can start taking the morning oil/juice cocktail. The best oil/juice cocktail for impaired gallstones goes like this:

2 tablespoons olive oil or Udo's Choice.
3-5 garlic cloves
1 inch of fresh ginger root
put into blender or food processor and blend fine.
Add to either grapefruit juice or apple juice. Use fresh squeezed if you can. Drink down.

Follow 30 minutes later with hot cereal like cream of wheat, or brown rice farina.

Eat the Cleansing Carrot Salad for lunch or dinner.

You can do this for about two weeks, then get a colonic, take a break, and repeat, starting with stone dissolvers for one week, then add the oil/juice cocktail regimen back in.

Repeat until all gallbladder symptoms are gone and digestive is strong. Be sure to read the guidelines for digestive power and follow them carefully.
Eat beets or juice them (just half a one a day is all you can have) too.

Try to avoid food that is irritating to the bladder like: eggs, pork and onions.

hope this helps,
ivana

So sorry you are suffering like this.

I read ivana's proposed protocol and found myself nodding along as I read.

I have never personally experienced an attack like you are going through.
The things I have read on the stones and ultra sound is that only calcified stones will show up on ultra sound the lumpy green, yellow cholesterol ones do not show up.
I know I thought I was done after a series of flushes where I was down to chaff only but I think there are more and am starting a new series of flushes. I believe from all that I have read that stones will move down from the liver and ducts and replace the ones you have released. This causes new blockages.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
I wish you well and that you can resolve this soon.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I thought that one alternative to doing a liver flush with oils was to do a coffee enema (which I've never tried). Shelley mentioned this a few times, such as:

Quote:
Coffee enemas are wonderful but you do absorb some of the caffeine, which depletes the adrenals. If you aren't having any other sources of caffeine then one coffee enema a week should be fine. Smile What they do is relax the biles, force the liver and gallbladder to flush a lot of bile, and then the coffee takes the bile OUT of you pronto by binding to it and inducing peristaltic action. It's a fanastic form of intervention because everything is done in this one act - cleanse AND elimination.

from the 'started Candida diet getting breakthrough menstrual bleeding' post in the Candida forum (which I found through a search on: coffee liver flush).

Those more knowledgeable may know of drawbacks to this; but I thought it might be something to research if you can't take oils at all.

Best of luck to you.

Hi Myra,
Please read my Blog in Personal Online Journals titled Preliver flush. Also my message uinde My challenge.

Liver flush can be important but always consider bowel cleanse as important and should be done before any liver flush.

Coffee enema done correctly can do a pretty good job of cleansing the liver and gallbladder. I have used it during my 5 days fast. I took a 1 quart coffee retention enema after my cleansing enemas but before my saline solution enema. Retained it for 20 minutes. Evacuated then took my salt water enema. I do this for 5 consecutive days.

Sometimes I have gotten better results than with the liver flush other times not. Why? I don't know.

I hope some of this helps.

I have been following a normal diet as outlined by a naturopath that I am going to, it is a bit on the lower fat side. Well, a couple of days after I posted this message I was in such a poor mood that I did some stress eating.

I had a large portion of Lindt dark chocolate truffles (oh about 15 of them) and a half of a box of Lorna Doone butter cookies. I laid on the couch and watched a movie for a couple of hours and do you know that by the end of the movie, that pain was gone and has not come back!!

I can only think that perhaps such a large ingestion of fats caused a spontaneous push of bile and dislodged the stone to where it is not causing pain.

I am doing bowel managment now and am going to try that coffee enema over the long weekend (the advantage of having all your family live 2,000 miles away....) For me I will have 4 days to cleanse and recuperate in the privacy of my home.

Thanks for the great advice... I am going to try to make some sense out of all of this and come up with a healing/cleansing protocol for all my issues. Would anyone here be able to help me with that?

Again , thank you so much for the advice and please excuse my long delayed response.

All the best,
Myra

The main point of this site is to educate people, so I would suggest doing some more reading, researching and making your own protocol. Once you do that post it here for reviewing.
I find this the best way for educating as along the way you'll pay more attention rather than getting the protocol list from somebody else. Wink

Yes, keep reading and see what applies to you.

Once you have somethings outlined post it here and we can help tweak it a bit with a suggestion or two if you have questions.

This is great advice for me as I think I might be having gallbladder attacks too.

Ivana I noticed you said Shelley had instructions for calming the gallbladder but I looked in FAQ the night I posted my topic in the Cleansing Protocols folder, and didn't see anything on gall bladder. Woudl you point me to the place on the site where she discusses gall bladder?

Also you guys seem to be capable of searching the forum for key words but I can't find the search engine text box, is there a way to search the forum for posts relating to a specific topic?

Thanks!

Yep, once you click on "Forums", it says "Search" under the nature picture at the top.
