| Hello Shelley! I have been taking some garlic and probiotics to help try and get some of my candida knocked down. However I just seem to gain more and more weight the more candida that gets killed off. Is it possible that my body is not eliminating the dead stuff and its just been stored in fat cells - is this possible? I have however had die-off symptoms but does this necessarily indicate that the candida is exiting the body??? (I have also been taking herbs for liver support and the appropriate nutrients you recommend). Thanks Shelley |

Hiya Ladywear! Always nice to hear from you.
Now that's interesting about the weight gain. Hmmm! Could be you've overwhelmed yourself with all the die-off and that has slowed down metabolism.
One thing I can't stress enough for candida people is the importance of exercise, sweating, stretching and massage to keep things moving, and some kind of bowel management (preferably flushing enemas, colemas or colonics).
See, if you're feeling the die-off symptoms, that means automatically that you're not exiting them fast enough. If they were simply exiting they wouldn't be hanging around and making you feel bad. I hardly ever felt die off myself because I did enemas 3x a week at least, got massages weekly, had a shiatsu electric massager, and did Salute to the Sun yoga almost every day.
Exercise is essential for keeping your metabolism up and temp high. That kills candida, other baddis, ensures that all the toxins that have built up get transported out thanks to increased circulation and perspiration, and keeps the weight down.
Is the weight you've gained real weight or water retention? To know the difference, do the "calf test" every day. Simply clasp your hands around your legs as if measuruing the circumference, and get to know where your fingers end up. Mine tend to have just a centimeter in between thumbs, or sometimes my fingers touch. But when I have water weight, I can have as much as 6-7 centimeters in between my fingers! |

Hi Shelley Lovely to hear from you too! Love your new forum by the way.
The weight is on my arms and legs and looks all puffy cellulite looking. It is since I began with antifungals so maybe I am going too fast for my body. Thats good advice about the exercise - although I do have CFS so I have to pace the exercise - nice gentle walks rather than anything too strenuous! Would the liver also cause weight gain if it was having trouble dealing with the die-off? Many Thanks Shelley |

Yes, the liver is KEY. See, our energy needs are met by the Krebs Cycle. The Krebs Cycle is a metabolic process that happens to a small extent in our muscles, but the majority happens in the LIVER. This is something that all nutritional experts, doctors, weight-loss experts, completely overlook and forget. It is why a clean liver is the key to maintaining your ideal weight.
Whenever you have cellulitis, it means toxins are being temporarily stored in your fat cells and in between the fat cells. Usually it is because you're exceeding your metabolic needs with your caloric intake, plus there simply aren't enough base minerals/electrolytes to carry the toxins on out. Potassium, organic sodium (celery, zucchini) and calcium are essential in this case. It's one of the reasons I'm always recommending the Potassium Broth, cleansing drink and CalMagFizz.
When the extra water weight is above the waist it means the lymphatic system is overwhelmed, and that's something the anti-fungals will do yeppers. Below the waist water weight is usually overloaded kidneys, especially if it's around the ankles. Hips and thighs are usually the liver and eating late at night so that things settle there rather than move about, and estrogen dominance.
To help these areas equalize, limit your calories for a few days, exercise however much you can (even just 5 jumping jacks every 2-3 hours will do a tremendous amount of good!), and use a castor oil pack on your arms and any areas of cellulite. Massage the areas in question and use a dry brush on them too. |

| Thanks ever so much Shelley. One more last question if you would be so kind. In view of this would you lay off antifungals or keep going with them but put in place the advice you have given me?? |

| Anti-fungals are great for about 10 days to 2 weeks. If you've been on them for that long, go ahead and go off of them. Anti-fungals should only be about 10% of your entire protocol for the most part. Cleansing and raising metabolism/digestive power is much more important. |
