Hi Shelley! Hope you're doing well. Smile Great to see your new site is working out.

I finally worked up the nerve to try an enema, and found it to be no big deal at all. Afterward I felt 100% better...but then about 10-15 minutes later I passed at least a good 1/2 cup of light yellow mucous. Is this particularly indicative of anything or just bad digestion? I've often seen mucous, but not in this large a quantity.

Things have been worse for me than ever lately: I can feel and hear things moving around, with very painful gas. I basically follow an anti-candida diet though I don't belive I have it (pass the spit test multiple times, no brain fog, etc) because that used to completely eliminate symptoms. Have done 6-7 liver flushes, parasite cleanse over a year ago, p&b shakes, still do dry brushing, lots of water, low calories, cardio & weights 6-7 times/week. 27-year old female.

I'd really appreciate any input you might have. Thanks for taking my post.

Hi and welcome to the new site! So glad you found it! Smile

That much mucous is not a good sign. Yellow is a pretty normal color for the toxins we can't help producing due to the digestive process, but a lot of mucous means the intestines are having to protect themselves. It's like the bowel equivilent of having a runny nose. It's not a HUGE deal but we need to find out what's going on.

When mucus membranes are irritated they protect themselves with a thicker layer of mucous. They can get irritated due to lack of Vitamin A. When we're low in essential skin food (A, E, C, zinc, B vits, EFAs), the tissues become rough, not able to do their job right. They get cuts and become more permeable. Mucous comes in to make them slick again until the right nutrients are there for the intestines to really heal themselves. It's a band-aid measure.

Irritation can also be due to parasites, or fecal matter stuck where it shouldn't be.

So you definitely need to take care of the nutrient issue, and then do a fiber-based or oxy-powder type cleanse, and possibly a parasite expulsion protocol to see if there are any.

For nutrients, try a good pure Cod Liver Oil (A, D, EFAs), Wheat Germ Oil (E), and EmergenC for the C's, B's and Zinc. And it's nice to have zinc lozenges on hand and take them sporadically.

If you suspect you have gut permeability issues, then go for a supplement that has Glucosamine. That's the compound that builds intestines.

Hope that helps! Smile

Thank you so much Shelley! That explains a lot...and makes so much sense. I will definitely look into your recommendations--my intuition has been leading me that way and I've kind of been wondering about parasites. Now I better understand the mechanisms of what's at work here.

I really appreciate it. You are a wealth of knowledge and it's a difficult job, I bet. Thank you for doing it!

Is this okay?? I am a newbie to the whole cleansing process and I know I have Candida. I started taking the P&B shakes on Monday the 10th of January then followed suit with the Paragone on Wednesday.

Before doing this I would have 1 BM every day or (mainly) other day. They would be yellowish-orange brown. Now, I have the dark brown stools, which I know by reading your faq's are good - i hope. ANd since doing the PB I've done 3 BM's per day but today was totally different. I had 7 BM's.

First two were regular digested foods (both a good 6 inches long 2 inch diameter, last one smaller) then next two had a bit of that rubbery stuff (mucoid plaque..yippee) clinged on. The others weren't compacted digested food but a stool that looked like one but texture was rather fluffy and cloudyish . I'm assuming this is the mucoid lining??

Can you tell me if this is too much? I'm currently taking 1 PB shake but I increased it to two the day before yesterday and then started taking only 1 yesterday and today. Could it be the increased amount of PB?

Please help...thx

oh I'm a Gemini, 23, (Shelley's Dosha Test) Vata 15-Pitta 21, other test states that I'm a Vata personality (?)..I do see a combo of them in me
**oh and another thing..thanks shelley for all your support. I wouldn't have done this if it weren't for all your posts and faq's on Curezone.

Hiya Gemini! Smile

As long as you're not experiencing discomfort, not feeling anything like the psyllium is abrasive, burning, your intestines, keep going! You're doing great!

If you start seeing formed mucous like it's actual lining, almost like a snakeskin, then stop. What you're seeing now sounds like excess and that should be exited.

what does exiting mucous lining mean? What are the harmful effects of having that stuff come out? Does it mean that the intestines are completely bare and have no safe guard? The BM that i had looked like a stool (a little bit) but when I touched it was bubble gumish (when you blow up a bubble gum I mean). I'm sorry for the description I just don't know how to describe it.

Does the candida live underneath it? (I thought previously that we were supposed to get all of that gunk out to get rid of the Candida stuck on the intestinal walls?)

Gracias!!!

The mucous lining is designed to shed, but it is possible to take off a perfectly healthy lining with a really scrubbing fiber, and that we don't want to do. We only want to take off the unhealthy lining and cast-off lining.

If you ever experience pain and discomfort after a high-fiber meal, it may be scrubbing you too hard. A day or so of aloe vera juice is a good idea at that point, it helps to repair mucous membranes quicker.

Chances are good that anything you see come out was supposed to come off, I've only heard of a few cases where someone pulled off more than they should have.
