Hello Shelley. Do you think it's really necessary to supplement with lecithin if you are taking a fish oil and flax? Also, would it be best to mix the flax with kefir? Thanks!

Absolutely. See, when you first start taking in fats, you run the risk of congestion. Lecithin ensures that the fats are digested and absorbed cleanly. Lecithin is not just a fat, it's a phospholipid - a complex fat molecule with phosphorous too. It is an emulsifier, which means it breaks up fats.

If you wish to store flax for a long time, you should mix it with cottage cheese or kefir to stabilize it, as it gets rancid really fast. But mixing it with the calcium and dairy proteins takes care of that and plus makes it even more beneficial to the body, more oxygenating. Smile

The granules are edible, actually okay tasting. They are JUST lecithin.

Capsules of real food don't get you much real food. If you break one open you'll see it's a minute amount. So to get a therapeutic dose of lecithin or fats from capsules you'd have to eat like 3 handfuls. NOT fun. Most lecithin capsules have soy oil, you don't want to be eating soy oil.
