A friend of mine recently got me hooked on DDR, Dance Dance Revolution, it's the dance game from XBox. You have a mat with arrows and have to match the arrows on the screen with your feet in time with the music. Here I am 43 years old buying an Xbox so I could play this one game, my husband was shocked and amused.
It's great if you like to dance and have a competitive spirit. Without even realizing it I'll go for an hour or more and be covered in sweat. I had an unexpected good result from it also.
I came down with an ear infection from swimming last month. After the infection cleared I had a really clogged ear. I was told it was fluid built up and could take 4 - 6 weeks to clear. I was miserable. My friend came over and talked me into trying some DDR even though I felt so off. My scores were horrible but the game makes you bounce a lot. At the end of the game my ear felt better. So each night I kept at it, and in less then a week my ear was totally clear and I'd lost a few pounds.
I'm really easily bored by exercise. I'd highly recomend this as a workout. Once you have the XBox, you can also buy another game called Yourself Fitness which is a personal trainer that will take you through workouts including Yoga. It does a fitness evaluation and then creates custom routines for you that are always a little different.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share this. These exercise games aren't just for kids, I have several friends my age that are really enjoying them
