Tomorrow will be the third week I go to pick up a box of just off the farm organic vegetables. We joined a CSA - Community Supported Agriculture. You pay to become a shareholder and each week get a box of locally grown, seasonal produce. We're signed up for 20 weeks. You can read more about CSAs here:
http://www.biodynamics.com/csa.html

The taste difference is very noticable between this and store-bought produce and you get a bunch of different things, depending on the time of year. We've gotten a LOT of lettuce, so I've had to get creative (how many salads can a person eat?) and made some lettuce soup. Who knew it tasted like spinach? Smile It's also fun not knowing exactly what you'll get - if you read the farm's emails and newsletters, you have a good idea, but it's still kind of a surprise.

I'm so glad we did this and just wanted to let everyone know about it and see if anyone else here was part of a CSA.

That's so great!!!

I've known people to do that on a very small scale as a way to encourage 4H kids to start vegetable gardens. They get their baskets each week during harvest and it's great fun. Smile

Yeah, I am part of my CSA at my school. It is really great. The veggies switch from week to week and season to season just like they should. Plus I now eat veggies that I had never heard of previously. Absolutely LOVE the CSA.
