Hi, I am new to this board and I would like to know what you
suggest step by step to get rid of candida. In my case, it seems
to be centered in the esophagus, but I think it is spreading in
my body. I have tried reading through the posts but it would help
me and others that are new to see the steps that you suggest
all in one place. Thanks. |

| Check the FAQ (there is a link at the top of the page) there is a special section for us Candida suffering types. Once you have a read through you will probably find answers. If not, then Shelley is here often and she can always help you (she is a true Angel). |

Hi Zarla! Welcome to the forum.
Why do you suppose the candida is centered in your esophagus? Are you feeing pressure there, or coughing up mucous?
Do you have any of the classic symptoms of candida, and have you taken broad-spectrum antibiotics in the past few years? |

Hi, It is a little hard for me to tell my story because it is all over the place, I will give you a brief on the history of this problem.
Some time during 1999-2000 I started to notice that my throat was very dry at night and it seemed like even if I drank water it didn't help. I asked my doctor what it could be and she told me to just drink more water. I told her that water didn't really help. I did wonder if it could have anything to do with the fact that I live in a 100 year old building and they took down the tile in the shower/ bathroom overnight so it could be retiled and tthat may have released mold into the air? I did notice that after that the bathroom paint was constantly getting moldy even if I painted over it and Ifinally bought some mold free paint so it would stop. Also, during that
time period I had a colonoscopy, do people ever get infected from that?
In Aug. 2001. I got a severe sinus infection which affected my ear and caused partial hearing loss in one ear. I was given Augmentin, Prednisone, Valtrex, and Prevacid.
Later, in May 2001 I started to get asthma and was given Albuterol which
I took only very sparingly when I absolutely had to, which was not often.
In Dec. 2002, I had an EMG nerve conduction test because I had slight trembling in my hand probably due to carrying heavy packages. Needles were used in my arms and legs to conduct the test. The day after the test,
in the morning, I had a huge grapefruit sized rectal abscess and had trouble breathing. In Jan. 2003 I was given Cipro and have been given Cipro six times after that. I asked all my doctors if it was safe to take so many times and they said yes.
Also, in Jan. 2003 it was noted that I have multiple thyroid nodules but
I never took any medication for that because my tests came out normally.
I was also tested for diabetes several times and that was also negative.
My problem with the dry throat has continued to get worse and I was told that I have Acid Reflux. I did not have any stomach symptoms at the time.
I took Ranitidine and it gave me diarrhea and I told the doctor and she said to stop and gave me Prevacid instead. I went in again and said that I was uncomfortable with the Prevacid and I didn't think it was working. My doctor told me to finish the bottle I had. I said that I wanted to see a Gastro doctor. Another doctor came in and seemed upset that I wanted to see a Gastro and told me to stop taking the pills and just see a Gastro but refused to give me a referral. It seems like after I quit taking the Prevacid the "reflux" just got much worse. I have a terrible taste in my mouth every day. I cannot eat any sugar because my throat becomes very inflammed. Also, I have weird dry areas on my fingers that I have never had before. Also, my tongue does look whitish at times but not to the point of having patches. I also still have the abscess which gets smaller and larger from time to time because I didn't want to get rectal surgery to get rid of it because I had to sign that I understood that it can cause incontinence. Also, this abscess is bleeding from time to time when I use the bathroom.
I know that it sounds like I am a very sick person, but I really feel like each time I go to the doctor I get worse. I am finally scheduled to see a Gastro this month on Jan. 24 and I hope that I will get a better diagnosis of my problem. I was not the best eater before this started but I have been trying to stick with a candida diet according to a book that I have.
A lot of foods bother my throat/esophagus area now and it is inflammed most of the time.
I would like to start on a regimen of some kind but I am confused about it because I was never formally diagnosed. I have bought several bottles
of things to try to help myself at Hickey Chemists, and it is getting a little overwhelming.
Any advice you could give me would be appreciated. Thank-you. |

Hi Zarla! Oh my what a bad time you've had. I'm SO very sorry.
Even if you didn't have candida at the outset, all that Cipro would have given you it, definitely. I wouldn't even bother going to the gastro doctor at this point. But if it's free go and see what they can find, if anything, which I doubt!
Constantly taking Prevacid is NO answer. Not at all. It will simply turn off digestion so that none of your food digests, turning everything you eat into poison and leaving you at risk of severe immune problems from pneumonia to parasites.
Okay, you were probably on the right track with your sensitivity to the remodeling. My suspicion is it wasn't just molds and mildew, there was possibly some wood treated with arsenic and other toxins. All of your symptoms are classic for candida and mercury/arsenic/lead poisoning. And mercury poisoning causes candida imbalances too so... Do you have a lot of mercury fillings in your teeth? They are the silver looking ones.
So you have to be very very very thorough with your cleansing and diet regimen. It should start with a combination of colonics AND fiber AND digestive enzymes, probiotics, lymph management, then on to liver management, a bit of kidney, and then find someone to help you through metal chelation therapy.
It sounds like you're in Great Britain? Many of these things are tough to find over there, but several of my friends are over there and can steer you in the right direction.
Colonoscopies are safe procedures, so no worries about that one.
Have you gotten rid of all the mold/mildew in your home? Have you had someone take a look and see if there are any toxins that need to be removed?
You really need to go on a combination of the basic cleansing and anti-candida diet, which is mainly Kichadi, Protein Shake, and the other Essential Recipes you'll see in the FAQ. NO phony foods, sugar, instant foods, soads, coffee, black tea, are allowed.
If you can, get a Hair Analysis done, and your next basic physical should include at least one thyroid test, TSH.
So start reading the FAQ, try not to get overwhelmed, you ARE on the RIGHT TRACK now! And that's half the battle. |

Thanks for your reply. I will try my best to read through. It is
a little hard when you are not feeling well to read in such detail
that is why I am overwhelmed. I am not familiar with all this.
Thanks again. |
