Introducing the concept of the Muscle Mass Threshold .

In order to burn calories and yield energy, the body uses the Kreb's Cycle. This is commonly what we mean by metabolism, altho metabolism means a whole lot more. The Kreb's Cycle happens in two places: the liver and within long muscles.

Most people cannot lose weight because their livers are very much overloaded with stones and bad fats. Once the liver is clean, they drop the weight very quickly. A clogged liver is the number one cause for a drop in metabolism as one hits middle-age.

But here we know about the power of the liver, and some of us have cleansed our livers thoroughly and still cannot regulate our weight. This has happened to me 3 times in my life, and the reason was the same: I'd gone below my Muscle Mass Threshold.

When you're too sedentary, are hyperthyroid so you burn your muscle mass, etc., you gradually lose your muscle mass. It just goes. At first we don't notice it and it doesn't really cause any problems. But then it hits a particular point, the threshold, when we can start to notice problems. We notice that no matter how little we eat, we cannot shed pounds.

We need muscle mass to convert calories to energy. Too little muscle mass equates severely reduced conversion of calories to energy. The typical response of someone who is trying to lose weight is to do cardio-vascular exercise, and this is all well and good, but to really lose weight you need muscle mass, and cardio-vascular exercise doesn't put on the muscle as fast as lifting weights.

Cardio-vascular exercise will burn calories because you're using up calories, but once you start resting you burn much fewer calories. If you were to do a little bit less cardio-vascular and a lot more bulking up, you'll burn more calories during your periods of R&R.

So if you're ready to lose weight, start lifting weights! Your weight will increase at first because you're adding lean tissues, but once you get above your particular muscle mass threshold, the pounds of excess fat will start melting off as your metabolism increases.

and i agree totally!! when i used to do heavy weights i used to go through tons of chicken, eggs, rice, bread, and other high carb high protein food even when i never trained i used to get so hungry and i never put that much bad weight. i only used to lift weights for an intensive 45 mins to an hour 2 -3 times a day. thats all you need to bulk up.

But in order to put on safe weight how does one know how many calories they are burning? In high school I ran alot of track and basketball which has always kept me thin which in turn has made it difficult for me to put on weight, even to this day.

What also has me a little puzzled with my situation and should I cleanse or rebuild or do a mix or what. It says if you are overly thin then you should not fast.. and it says the cleanses can be debilitating and run you down which is one of my primary concerns because I have felt like that for years. Literally. I ordered the emergen-C, multi-mineral, alot of the yogi tea's and am starting with the flower essences as soon as they arrive- but im still a bit confused as to which direction to move in. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found your text about the muscle loss very interesting and want to ask you about s.th. related to this:

But what if all the waight gains just around the hip - like a "hip-ring"?! I have that at the moment even though I thought I got rid of Candida.

I know that my boyfriend had Candida (Systemic) and always does a lot of sport and still has this hip-tire!!

Do you have any ideas about the cause?
