Hi, I make it with a piece of ginger about the size of a garlic clove, and crush it in a garlic crusher. It's really nice with a bit of lemon or lime juice, though don't pour boiling water on it as I think it kills the Vit. C.
I've been served it in restaurants with just sliced ginger and hot water in a glass. It just takes a bit longer to 'brew'!
It's my favourite drink at the moment... Enjoy! |

thanks for the tip,
will ground ginger do??
I'm thinking of adding 1 tsp of molasses to my ginger tea. perhaps that would be quite nice as well?
sorry to pop another one at you. |

Ground ginger won't do very well. Once a spice/herb is ground, it loses a lot of its power to oxygenation.
All you need to do to make ginger tea is to buy ginger teabags! I highly recommend Traditional Medicinals Ginger-Ease. It is really nice and available online - see the Sources forum for the Tea post - and at good health food stores and specialty stores.
Naturally, making your own from fresh ginger root is better, but that's not always workable, especially for people who work in an office.
