The weirdest thing happened to me last night. All my fingernails seemed to curl up on the very tip. Another weird thing is that they were back to normal this morning. Does anyone have any idea what that was all about?

I'd like to know the answer to that question also - I have one fingernail that when it gets a little long, curls inwards. It's always like this, not just for a brief time, but it's also the only one that does this. Anyone have any ideas?

if the tips went up, that means the nail overall was concave - like a spoon or dish. That usually indicates iron deficiency. We can get weird symptoms of iron deficiency when we're actually deficient, but also when we take iron. As the body reacts to the influx of iron from an iron rich meal or supplement we tend to get temporary symptoms of deficiency.
If something happens to just one nail and not every nail, that usually corresponds to the major organ that is connectedt o the same meridian as the finger in question. |

wow shelley - thanks for that - can you direct me to where I might find what this one fingernail that is curving is telling me? Would I find this on a hand reflexology chart?

It's the middle finger on my left hand that curls in. I also have some toenails that do that. Those would be the toenails next to the big toe on both feet.
Thanks!

Okay, the middle finger corresponds to the small intestine and to bile, or Agni - digestive fire. But a nail that grows downward, as if it's following the finger, means a kapha derangement, chronic cough. So maybe that makes sense, maybe it doesn't?

Thanks Shelley - it makes perfect sense! I have been battling poor digestion lately and I know I have a kapha disorder. I will be anxious to see if the nail straightens out as I continue to cleanse.

Are you supposed to have lighter color crescents at the base of your nails? On my fingers, I only have them on my thumbs and wondered if that showed a deficiency or something.

yep, the white crescents are normal, and it's normal for you to have more of the crescent on your thumbs than the rest of your fingers. It's when they are way high on your non-thumb fingers that there's a problem, means the nail is separating from the skin a bit too much, creating too much, too wide of a nail bed.
