Hello Shelley,
I have been reading around for the past few days and feel my head spinning. I am not sure of the etiquette for posting or how this group operates, but I am hoping I can give you me in a nutshell and you can answer a few questions for me.
I am 29 years old and have been sick since I was 14. I have been diagnosed with Chronic FAtique, Adrenal Failure (stage 5 on the ASI), Leaky gut---sensitive to dairy, wheat, and soy, pinto beans (abused them by overeating), and sesame seeds. I have been on various anti-depressants for the past 10 years.
I finally got a doctor to prescribe Armour Thyroid because I have a body temp of 97.5 or below all day everyday.
So here is my question. I read on the Leaky Gut FAQ that I should clear the candida first. But then I read on a post that people with Leaky Gut shouldn't do PB shakes. Aren't PB shakes part of the protocol for getting rid of Candida? Did I misread or am I crazy (well yes I am).
It is comforting to see all of these people on here taking their health into their own hands. But I am just so overwhelmed.

Hi Carly! Yes, it IS overwhelming, but don't worry, every little bit that you do really helps and good health is just a few months away!
Leaky gut people have it the worst because everything they eat ends up in their bloodstream and then they become allergic to it. You don't have to do fiber shakes to cure candida, all you have to do is eat right and not feed it anymore. Can you handle herbs and spices? The spicier your food, the less it will ferment and cause candida overgrowth.
Leaky gut people actually have a very simple regimen: cook up a huge batch of Kichadi, eat that and the Cleansing Carrot Salad and the other Cleansing recipes (drink, quinoa pasta, see FAQ) and a non-gluten porridge and those become your "fiber shakes."
It's vital to start cleansing your liver with lecithin, liver herbs, carrot salad. If you react to garlic/onions, leave them out of the recipes. Consider getting an enema bucket. When you suspect your gut isn't so leaky you can start doing probiotics and then candida will be balanced for good.
See the FAQ for how to feed the adrenals (Bieler Broth, Licorice tea, Gotu Kola/Astralagus/Ginseng).
For low body temperature, that means you likely have low iron, low manganese, low sodium, low iodine, low Vitamin E and should supplement carefully.
Good luck! |
