|
|
Shelley,
hi again...listen, does the SED rate in the blood, also show an enlarged thyroid? The reason I'm asking is because, on Feb. 7th, my GYN felt my thyroid, and said it was SLIGHTLY enlarged, but didn't even write it down on my file (so, I can only assume he didn't think it was to big a deal, I don't know...I have all my med. files and have carefully read them, and he didnt put it down, UNLESS it was written in some kind of "dr." language, but to be honest, I read each line slowly and carefully, and to my suprise, he pretty much wrote things out NORMALLY..lol)) ... that was Feb. 7th, now, on March 26th, my GP(i told you all this already) said that because of the temple pressure and squeezing on my left temple, he said that he thought it was Giant Cell arteritis and sent me for taht blood test on March 27th, but it came back normal SED rate, so apparently no Giant Cell thingy ... but my point is, I'm wondering if that blood test for Giant Cell, since it's supposed to pick up any "inflamation" in the body, would have detected the enlarged thyroid?
ok, thanks Shelly! Sincerely, Starlight |

| an inflamed thyroid can show up as an elevated SED rate. SED rate is a non-specific, practically useless measurement of general inflammation issues. If it's very positive and other symptoms present themselves, one has to look further with more specific inflammation tests such as the more expensive ANCA which if the numbers are right could indicate giant cell arteritis, or RA, etc. |

yeah, Shelly, I think I had forgotten to tell you in teh last post there, that the test had come back NORMAL, the # was 7. So, then, is it safe to assume that my thyroid, which my GYN had felt was somewhat inflamed on FEB. 7th, had by MAR. 27th, gone back to normal? Could it have been that my hormonal changes, such as being estrogen dominant caused that symptom when it really wasn't the thyroid at all, but the estrogen dominance causing it ..... here is a link, to a site I read that on ......
http://www.nocramp.com/thyroid.html - hey, what do you think of Dr. John Lee and his work?
thanks shelly! |

|
|
gosh, one more thing Shelley, what do you think of natural progesterone cream? which brand is the best? have you ever used it youself? I'm thinking I'd like to give it a try, but not sure of any side effects ... I have a feeling my thyroid might have been enlarged that day at hte GYNs office due to estrogen dominance, so I'd like to try the progesterone cream.
Also.....my thyroid numbers came back on the "normal" side, but slightly elevated TSH (4.16), which the site that I just gave you the link to on the post above this...says is typical of estrogen dominace affecting the thyroid gland (that it would be slightly high). Now, I have a friend who suggests going back for anohter blood test to check for anti bodies, apparently, if there are anti bodies in the blood, that shows there truly is a thyroid problem????? What do you knwo about this?
thanks Shelley!!!!! |

you've really got to mellow out. That's all I can say.
The thyroid panel tests for antibodies. Done.
Progesterone cream can cause problems over time. Cleanse the liver and let the body regulate itself as much as possible. Messing with sex hormones is a dangerous business. |
