I keep getting mails saying that soon we won't be able to buy supplements because the FDA is going to outlaw it - I put an example of one of these mails below.
Is there truth in this - should we be worried?
"If you have EVER bought anything over the counter, on line, phone, thru a
distributor the FDA is planning to put a stop to this. Please, Please
respond to the URL listed below & help us stop the FDA-again! If you
don't like clicking on links, then put the URL in yourself.
There is a CRISIS in HEALTH FREEDOM!! On April 30, 2007 the FDA will
close the public comment period on a 'Guidance' which will classify
EVERY alternative practice as medicine so that only licensed physicians
can carry out the procedure AND vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc., will
suddenly become 'untested drugs' which WILL BE FORBIDDEN!
Bad? Real Bad! But public outcry can stop this assault on your health
and your freedom.
Spread the word! Tell everyone in your Circle of Influence,
professionals, alternative practitioners, nutrient and herb companies,
everyone! Let them know how important their participation is to make sure
the FDA backs off from this repressive course.
Please share this link with them and urge them to take action:

Nope, this is either way out of date or just a scam to get your e-mail addy. The FDA has settled for keeping health benefit claims off the labels.

All through Curezone this message is ongoing. It does not sound like the FDA has settled anything. The date is April 30, 2007 when the final decision will be made. I am getting emails twice a week with updates. They already have my email addy, why would they still be trying to get it? What could they gain by continuing to update us about this issue if it has already been resolved? Even if they are just scamming us to get our email addies, they have never sent me anything other than updates to this issue - no spam. With all due respect, I have seen this on so many websites (including online merchants who sell natural remedies), I can't believe that they all don't know that this issue has already been settled.

oh then maybe I'm out of touch! oh dear! but there's no way they can stop the sale of vitamins and supplements in a free-market society. And no way doctors can prescribe these things as drugs. There will soon be a court case saying that if we can't buy Vit C OTC then we shouldn't be able to buy aspirin and big pharm won't stand for that!

Shelley, here's a link to one of the websites with the info on this current issue. It's all about the money and control. They won't outlaw aspirin because they make money on it. But they have no control over natural herbs, procedures, "cures" etc. The article will explain it better.

Well there you go. You have to beware of people who cry wolf, sometimes they're just looking for donations.
