A study on the benefits of intestinal microbes (what I call friendlies) showed that having healthy levels of acidophilus, or drinking kefir/lactaid, helps keep cholesterol from being absorbed. Acidophilus helps to break down cholesterol too.

So if your Total Cholesterol levels start increasing, start drinking some kefir smoothies as well as addressing the mineral deficiencies and lifestyle issues that compound the issue.
