Hey Shelley, Ive been noticing that my hands and feet are suffering from cold much more these days, wondering what you think the cause might be and what I may do to improve the situation.

I think I 'feel' the cold more than everyone else and certainly more than I used to since the virus.

I also have a few spider veins around the place, would they be related?

Thanks!

I would love to hear the answer to this also as I have the same problem. My fingers actually turn white when they get cold (even if it's not horribly cold out) and I have to rub them to get the color back.

Ive been thinking, it could be iodine. Ive been doing a lot of reading concerning the amounts of iodine people need and stumbled across some interesting idea of an 'iodine flush' using lugols.

You bascially saturate your tissues with iodine for 3-4 days, there is a forum on CZ about it now. The science makes a lot of sense and the real risks are low and easily controllable.

I will probably perform this in a couple of weeks time.

I know I never used to have cold hands!
I used to be the 'warm' one! Wink

When your fingers turn white from cold, that's an actual syndrome with a name which I can't recall (haven't had my breakfast yet LOL!). Argh. ANYway, it's one of the side effects of a low metabolism, low thyroid, and deficiencies of things that make metabolism happen. Iodine is definitely one of them. It used to happen to me but I'm fine now. Wheat germ oil cured it for me.

Iodine is truly important, but overdosing will cause metabolism to stop, so I wouldn't recommend "saturating" your body. Just take the RDA for two weeks, or take Edgar Cayce's Atomidine for awhile.

Other causes are:
Low Vitamin E, low iron, low iodine, low Vit B6, high/low phosphorus, high/low sodium, high/low calcium, high/low magnesium, high/low EFAs.

Chances are you aren't high in anything unless you've been supplementing.

Regarding white fingers, I was reading Prevention the other day (I was under the impression it was mostly herbal/natural remedies, until I read the first pharmaceutical ad) and there was an article in there that said if your fingers/toes turn white from the cold, it's a sign of peripheral vascular disease and you should see a doctor ASAP. I've noticed this condition on and off for as long as I can remember. If this was something that life-threatening, wouldn't I have noticed some bad side effects by now? I have noticed in the small amount of reading of Prevention that I've done, a lot of the articles in here tend to contradict each other. So I guess I'm gonna stay away from this magazine. The lack of vits makes so much more sense. I haven't exactly logged what I've eaten/haven't eaten when this happens, but from what I can recall, when I was feeling more healthy, and eating more healthy, I don't think this happened.

Yes, there's a real problem with reading those Prevention type warnings - they are hyped up in order to make good copy, and will make naturally occurring things sound life threatening until you have to wonder how the human race managed to overpopulate the planet, if things are as bad as they say! Rolling Eyes

So remember to ask yourself the balancing questions: have you ever heard of anyone dying from whitened extremeties? Do you know of anyone with gangrene? Which would certainly set in if blood wasn't flowing. Are there people walking around with missing fingers and toes? I mean seriously! LOL!

The key is getting to know your symptoms, what causes them, and manage your environment as much as you can to alleviate them before you take any prescription pills. That's all there is to it.
