Some people have persistent skin eruptions because of an overdose of phosphorus in proportion to other of the essential salts in our blood stream and cells and their proper pH levels. They too often ingest large amounts of phosphorus that they kidneys cannot shed fast enough to maintain balance. It can't shed too much, because that requires the loss of calcium which is essential. Thus the body is constantly in a state of imbalance, which leaves it vulnerable.

This is why coca cola and other high-phosphorus foods like chocolate bring on acne and why quitting the Pepsi addiction helps so many acne sufferers. (safer sodas are ginger ale and root beer. No phosphorus at all.) Some people just can't eat a lot of trash because their bodies can't dispose of it fast enough.

Lots of people know a little bit about diabetes, and there is another hormonal imbalance that involves the adrenals and makes balancing phosphorus and salt more difficult. These people actually need regular doses of salt and phosphorus antagonizers like calcium and zinc, and if they follow the accepted prejudice against salt will be causing themselves a host of problems ranging from fatigue to depression, chronic fungal infections, athlete's foot, headaches, and very smelly feet. If these people turn to the Atkins diet they will suffer mightily because a diet high in protein is a diet high in phosphorus, one of the reasons why you should cycle in vegetarian days at least one day in seven. Otherwise, further down the line is osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis and kidney stones. Yikes!

Adrenal fatigue, which most city-living, commuting in traffic people, suffer, leads to this same difficulty with balancing salt and phosphorus because the balancing act requires the production of a hormone.

So if you've had these symptoms, and especially if you've had them all at the same time, then start supporting your adrenals and kidneys better and eat a diet that gives you only the RDA of phosphorus and no more. You can test whether you are one of the overdosed on phosphorus people by taking Calcium, zinc, B5, the potassium broth, deleting mushrooms, meats and dairy apart from 1-2 eggs a day and of course Pepsi, for 2-3 weeks and see if your symptoms improve. If your pains tend to be on the left side of the body, that's phosphorus. If your joint pain is mostly on the right side, that's a salt sensitivity.

Hope that's not too confusing! Smile
