Hi all, I want to do a cleanse, I am not really that enthusiastic to buy something on the internet, so I went to the health store ( a big one not too far from me ) and asked some questions there. There is this wild rose herbal d-tox that is a 12 day treatment. They recommended that one. They had another that was called first cleanse, but it was very mild and gentle. Have any of you tried these. I tried doing searches in here, but nothing came up.
thanks |

Most of us here customize our cleanses and make up our own fiber shakes from flax seeds, psyllium, apples, applesauce... you name it, and buy various liver cleansers and drink various teas. Please read the FAQ on how to cleanse so you can make some very powerful choices rather than rely on expensive products! I do recommend Sonne's bowel cleanse, Perfect 7 I think it's called, as it's quite simple, relatively inexpensive, convenient and effective. So compare the ingredients of the ones in your store to the Sonne cleansers and that will give you some idea.
I also like Colonix, except not the laxative tea, and the herbs at www.sensiblehealth.com. They're the safest and most effective "Internet products." |

ok, thank you shelley, I also have to ask, why such a divisive opinion on the whole cleansing topic. I am really surprised there is not more of a consensus on this. Instead, it is very polarized.
Advocates of it boast feeling better, more energetic.
Opponents if it suggest it is not only unnecessary, but dangerous.
I find it almost impossible to find a middle ground.
De-tox, I can understand, toxins in food, like pesticides, alcohol, etc etc. I can see the benefit of doing juice fasts and other strict diet restrictions in order to allow the body to remove toxins to the best of it`s ability.
But these cleanses, whether it be liver, intestine, colon, etc - I really wish there was some group of medical experts that could say yes, these cleanses are necessary, or no, they are dangerous, or even, at the very least, do them if you want, no benefit, no harm.
Here is my main issue. Colon cleanses supposedly produces a lot of waste. I mean a lot. Also, colonoscopies are done all the time. So, wouldn`t the people performing these procedures see all this stuff in the colon. I know they are given a powerful laxative beforehand, but no one has ever told me the result was pounds and pounds of this mucous placoid or whatever it`s called. They mostly say they keep going to the bathroom until they are literally pooping water. So where is this supposed pounds and pounds of fecal matter so many are saying they are happy to get rid of.
Thanks Shelley, any light on this subject is greatly appreciated |

Not everyone has mucoid placque. Real, old mucoid placque is really really gross, like black plastic! And all the colonicists I've been to have seen tons of it. Dr. Bernard Jensen's book shows pictures of the real stuff. If you doubt the existence of it, however, simply ask yourself how much hardened mucus you've pulled out of your nose! it's the same exact thing.
I never had mucoid placque as I've never had chronic constipation. I am more prone to diarrhea luckily so my bowels are pretty clean. Enemas and colonics just helped me recover much much faster.
Any subject on earth is polarized because there's such a varying level of experience and research/reading ability. Add to that the fact that many practitioners have never been sick themselves, and then all you get is propaganda on top of superstitions or fads.
Modern medicine does not truly heal, it merely manages, becuz that's the only way to keep your customer (patient) coming back over and over and keeping the trillion-dollar pharmeceuticals happy. Allopathic medicine will never see the value of cleansing because they can't prescribe a drug for it.
My naturopathic doctor was actually approached by representatives from the AMA who asked him to stop selling his enema bucket! And the esteemed Mayo Clinic used to give enemas all the time back in the 20s, and actually cured Type II diabetes all the time then, too!
What's dangerous is ignorance. If you cleanse in total ignorance without knowing the contra-indications or true dangers, then yes, it's dangerous!
