What is the best food for a nursing cat? My mother cat had kittens a month or so ago, and the kittens are now starting to eat cat food, but mom is getting very scrawny. She's very thin and straggly looking (they are outside cats). We've been giving her regular cat food, with daily raw eggs/whole milk. I'm just trying to put weight back on her - her neck is very thin, and so is her middle. She looks like she's starving - but we make sure she has food/eggs/milk every day. What else can we give her to help her put the weight back on?

See if she likes butter. Just put some soft butter in a dish.

She also needs protein. Raw turkey, raw beef, or cooked shrimp, fish, canned tuna, are all good options.
