Hi all!

I just wanted to post about two books that I am really enjoying, though I have not finished either. Both seem to have some diet regimen that they suggest you follow, which I have not read over, but are still very hearty books otherwise.

The first is a good factual one that pretty much follows the same line of thinking that Shelley has, and reviews a lot of the same material. It's nice to have maybe for reference until Shelley publishes her book and it is called Restoring Your Digestive Health by Jordan Rubin and Joseph Brasco. It's lacking in all ayurveda considerations but does provide a good basis in many other areas of interest.

The second maybe you could just borrow from the library because it so far seems to be a quick read, though it does have some yummy looking recipes in back. I like this book because it is helping me to understand the spiritual side of food. I guess when I started changing my lifestyle and how I thought about food I knew I was doing something more than just improving my physical body and health. And this book is helping to establish better the connection between nourishing our bodies and nourishing our spirits. I have never taken a philosophy class nor been very much into spirituality, and maybe most of this is common sense, but I really do think this is a great book for providing the basics of why it is important that we celebrate and give grace to food and cook it ourselves to instill the essence and vitality into the food we feed ourselves. I'm starting to see that there is more behind Shelley's instinct to encourage pungent therapy (wow and to call it therapy is right on!) than just to bring out the toxins. For awhile I thought I was becoming super healthy because I ate all the right things but I never really got the sense that what I was eating was fulfilling or that I was free from food, I just never felt that everything is whole and balanced and satisfying. And I think it's because I haven't fully learned how to cook and trust my cooking instincts and allow myself to really put the time into enjoying feeding myself. It seems that that is equally important as what you eat in order to nourish our physical and spiritual being. This book is called If the Buddha came to dinner by Hale sofia schatz.

Does anyone else have any book suggestions? I know you all read and I love to read! Very Happy
