Hi Shelley
I'm still struggling with the candida especially in my throat. Was at the docs again and he has given me Diflucan, one 50g a day for seven days. I also still have terrrible acid. The doc prescribed a stronger dose of antacid, short-term. I have taken it a couple of days as it's so bad. I have been having cramp-like burning pains under my left ribcage radiating round to my back and up into my chest. My joints are aching all over especially my shoulders. I have peculiar feelings in my eyes. They are really dry and itchy, sometimes twitchy.
I would like to get the acid under control. What are the best foods? I have porridge made with rice milk and cinnamon/blueberries for breakfast. I have bought loads of organic veg to make soup etc. Will also be making Kichadi. My stomach feels so bad that I feel I need to eat something but afraid of what, as it might make it worse. Hope you can advise.
Regards

Be sure to read the FAQ, in the diagnostics is a bit about cold stomach. Having stomach or abdominal pain is not necessarily excess acid. If your blood type is O and you're under 40 and the pain hits hard when hungry and tends to be alleviated by eating or taking calcium or drinking milk/kefir, then it is high acid.
IF the pain starts immediately upon eating or is relieved by taking in some apple cider vinegar, the pain is due to too little stomach acids.
Because of how the pain is radiating, it sounds like there's a blockage somewhere. How is your posture overall? Do you have stooped shoulders? If your stomach is out of position that can cause acid pain.
Even if the pain is high acid, taking antacids is a terrible thing to do to your body. It will increase candida, increase the chances of getting pneumonia and parasites. It will cause more Ama, undigested food particles, clogging up all of your tissues.
A safer way of dealing with acid is Garden of Life's Acid Defense. This has minerals and such that will gently reduce acid in the stomach, and greatly reduce it throughout your body.
Try to eat mainly Kichadi, veggie soups, broths, Moroccan soup at very regular intervals on a set schedule for a couple weeks and things should equalize. Stay away from raw foods for awhile, except for the occasional cleansing salad. Marinated or fermented raw veggies are okay, but not just like carrot sticks. |

| The pain seems to be there all the time and it's very hard to pin point when it feels worse now. It is a burning tightening/spasm feeling. Last night I also had sharp pains directly in my stomach under the left ribcage while trying to get to sleep. My stomach is gurgling with acid especially when I waken up. It does also have that feeling like something is needing to be cleared. My posture is not very good, my blood type in RhA-Negative and I am 48. My dosha is mostly Vata. I think I will stop the antacids as I don't feel any better with them at all. What about the Diflucan though, is that ok to take and of course I should have said it was 50mg and not 50g dose I was prescribed. Would a castor oil pack and massage be helpful? I am going to have a detox bath and an enema this morning. I'm sure I tried to get Acid Defense before but we don't have it over here but I think it is something I need to get hold of. |

Hi Shelley
I have found where to buy Acid Defense Powder. It's pretty expensive. How long would 300g last? I have also found Emergen C but there are so many different kinds. How do you know which one to get?
Thanks

Yep all their products are expensive, so it pays to look and see if anyone is selling it on E-bay for distributer prices. It should last a long long time actually, because you really only need a teaspoon a day. When you start out, take it 2-3 times a day for a week or so and then back off.
I tend to get either regular Emergen-C, the one with fructose as a sweetener. They have a low-cal version that's better for candida people, but really the amount of fructose is so low I wouldn't worry about it. I like the lemon/lime flavor best but that's entirely subjective.
If I don't get the regular, original version, I get the one with Glucosamine and Chondroitin added, because being Vata I'm prone to getting cracks in my tongue, irritated intestines, and this really helps. |
