Hello Shelley! I had a weird experience that happened to me last night and thought I would ask you the cause as you are so insightful!
This happens to me every so often: I went to dinner with some friends and ate broiled salmon and wild rice with vegetables. I had one drink (vodka and seltzer). I came home and took an IF #1 because I hadn't gone in 2 days. I also took coptis. Went to bed around 11 and awoke at exactly 1:02a.m. with my heart palpatating, sweating and feeling weak and naseous. I dragged myself to the bathroom where my heart was beating really fast and after a few minutes I had a BM. I was in the bathroom for a while and the more I went, the better I felt. Last night, when I examined a little futher, the stool looked a little lumpy. (Stones??)
Now, these exact symptoms happen to me from time to time and always seem to involve me having dinner in a restaurant. It only happens after I have eaten out. Never when I ate dinner at home. Also, it always happens at 1a.m. and always the heart palpatations followed by a large bowel movement. Can you explain what this is because while it is happening, I get a little nervous because my heart is beating so fast that I feel really weak for the time being. Any insight is appreciated!! ( I know it is not related to the coptis because last night was the first time I took the coptis and had the symptoms. These episodes have happened to me for the last couple of years and coptis was never involved so I don't think that has anything to do with it) |

Hi Doolange!
The skin at the rectum is really blood-rich. We can absorb things from there instantaneously, much like putting a pill under our tongue, it goes straight to the nervous system. So when we eliminate something really toxic, it makes us sick as it's passing thru that area because we re-absorb the toxins. The body gets the signal that there are toxins, goes into hyperdrive to get rid of the toxins, and thus palpitations and an agonizing BM.
Why restaurant food would do that to you could be a combo of a higher-fat meal (possibly rancid) than you're used to coupled with all those new, unfamiliar, alien proteins. Your resident microbe colonies have to deal with the microbes from the restaurant. The cleaner we get, the harder and faster our bodies can respond to new invaders. |

Funny thing is that the high fat content was one of my original thoughts because, yes, I do eat richer food when I eat out. I also theorized that the alcohol played a role because usually I have a glass of wine or drink when I eat out. However, last night, it was a very reputable, expensive restaurant and because I was eating on the later side (another theory I had was the late hour I would eat) I ate a very mild dinner. The salmon was steamed and the wild rice was pretty mild.
Could it be that restaurants use MSG and I am unusually sensitive to that? Also, why does it always happen at 1 a.m. Never at any other time. The other question is, what can I do in the future to avoid this? Do you have any suggestions? |

the foreign viruses and bacteria are enough to cause that kind of reaction if you're low on your own friendly residents. And wine can cause a toxic crisis either because of the alcohol or the sulphides that are often in reds.
I always had to look for kosher red wine in order to drink it safely.
Drinking the Cleansing Drink prior to bed is one of the best ways to handle all that. The 1 am thing is indicative of the truth that there are cycles to the day, biorhythms for our organs etc., all we have to do is pay attention and we'll see their affects. Healing methodologies used to pay a lot of attention to the phases of the moon, Farmer's Almanic, hour of the day... |

| According to chinese medicinal theory, at 1am your qi(vital energy) is circulating through your liver, 1-3am, congested liver maybe?? Also from 11-1am its passing through the heart, also which may be indicative by your palpatations?? |
