Now that spring is here and the world is warming up, it's time to go WALKING!!!

One of the best exercises there is, and one of the most flexible, you can walk in any way that suits your mood, personal preferances, schedule.

I've got a walking partner, one of my best friends, and it's a great way for us to keep in touch and meet our goals all at the same time. We meet at the beach and walk from one pier to another, which is quite a long ways. Some of the time we don't make it all the way. Oh well! no biggee. The point is we WALKED.

When she's not available I have places that I like to visit alone. One is a wetlands bird sanctuary. It's right on PCH but you can get far enough away from the traffic that it's not annoying. Lots of birds to watch as you walk on hard-packed sand and clay.

If you're in pretty good shape and a nature lover, go hiking. Any day hikes near you? Camping out is a bit of a chore, but all you need for a day hike are snacks and water in a little backpack.

And of course very near me is one of the best malls in the world. It's so large that if I walk every floor and every wing I've gone at least two miles.

There are also groups you can join of people who are walking in preparation for races and marathons.

And my dogs need to be walked daily, but that's a pretty short and simple walk. It mostly involves standing around as I give them a chance to use their noses and satisfy their curiousity.

So think about where you can walk alone and who'd make a good walking partner and put on those walking shoes!

How great you have a walking buddy!

I have Hayley my dog.

She is a handful. Very Happy
Not the typical dog. She know her words.
Want to go...
walk
let's go
even if they are spelled out P A R K or W A L K or P O N D
She races off to findher leash.

I have a harnse now for her.
She is half Boarder Collie has German Sheppard.
I had a gentle lead but she kept breaking that and gave herself a bald spot across the nose from pulling so hard.
I adopted her from the Humaine society last year. May 1st.
When we leave the house she just goes. Nothing gentle about a walk with Hayley. She doesn't stop to do any business ever. That she saves for her yard. We go and go.
I love it. I think walking is a great exercise at any pace, and that most everyone can do some. I attribute my daily walks for keeping my metabolism up while fasting. It isn't overly taxing yet gets alll the juices flowing.

My son and I will often walk to the park to play, or down to the pond. Which is super nice right now because of all the new ducklings.
