Cup measurement ??

As we don't usually use cups in cooking in uk can some one tell me what size a cup should be ?

If you're using dry measures it obviously depends a lot on the mass and size of the material. Flour is different to sugar, for example.

Cups are a very annoying inexact system for demanding arses like myself

But I guess I just look at them as proportions of a whole.
Just pick a cup about the correct size and use that for everything, so its all in ratio.

And if I'm talking about a drink, a cup can mean literally a cup that you use to drink out of.
