Ok, people the summer is coming and if you have been lazy during the winter, it is time to move and start exercising.
Let us know how you do it and if there is something that you wish to discuss about.
We can start from there and see where it will led us to

Ivana,
This is a great thread! Let's get it going.
I recently got a new job and will be walking to work 4-5 days a week, 25 minutes roundtrip. This increases if I decide to run errands, too. But, I walk fast and hard along the hilly roads to work, so I sweat!
In addition, I workout at home 3-4 days a week. I start with running up and down our stairs (3 flights of stairs in our house!) for about 15 minutes. Then I do strength training. I just started this a couple of weeks ago. I started off with just some 4 lb dumbbells and I do arm curls, extensions, squats, lunges, and weighted crunches. I want to find out some good chest/back exercises, too.
I have heard that strength training helps to melt off the fat. I don't have a ton of fat to lose, but I would love to tone away a few pouches here and there.
Fun!
Blessings,
Shawna |

Hi Shawna,
Great girl, keep up
Sorry for a delay response, but I was out of town for a couple of days.
To melt off the fat you have to do a lot of cardio, strength training will help but not as much as cardio will. The best timing for cardio is early in the morning before breakfast, as the blood sugar lever is low.
4lb dumbbells are great and will tone up arms just fine , later on you can add more weight if you feel that you got used to 4lb
keep us posting about the progress

Hi all!
Just an update on my routine.
I am still doing basically what I mentioned before and was able to increase my weight to 6lb dumbbells as of a week and a half ago. I like feeling strong! I am getting a hang of squats more and more, too. I really enjoy them.
Ivana, you said that one needs to do a lot of cardio for weight loss, but I have definitely heard that strength training helps with this just as much. I think that Shelley even mentioned this. Did you not experience much weight loss when you started strength training?
Just curious.
Thanks,
Shawna
