Does anyone know if lecithin and miso are goitrogenic? I did a Google search but wasn't able to find anything definitive.

Thanks::

Miso is fermented, and Lecithin is just lecithin, it doesn't have any of the properties of the soy bean left in it. In this case, being refined is a GOOD thing. Smile

So long as the soy bean is fermented, it is not that much of a goitregen. Any bean, nut or seed is going to have a little bit of goitrigen properties. You can have reasonable amounts of tempeh, miso, tamari and tofu in your diet, you simply have to make sure to get adequate iodine. Because the Japanese eat their miso/tofu soup with bits of seaweed, which is rich in iodine, they do not suffer goiters near as often as other cultures.
