If your insomnia is due to a very active, Vata or Pitta mind that keeps turning things over and over and over, then simply getting enough calcium and calories won't necessarily cure your insomnia. You have to get your mind under your own control.
Start slowing and grounding your energy by lowering the lights to a more romantic type lighting as you do your regular nightly routine to get ready for bed. Have some soft, ambient music playing in the background. I highly recommend Mystic Radio if you have WinAmp loaded on your computer. Great new age/Yoga music.
So when you lie down for bed, get into your favorite position. Tell yourself firmly, even out loud, "By the time I get to Violet I will be in a Theta brain wave state." Theta is a deep state of mind, restful and rejuvenating whether you are conscious or asleep.
Concentrate on your breathing and make sure it is deep and slow, involving your diaphram and not just your chest. Relax every muscle, feel yourself sing into the bed.
Now comes the creative visualization. What you want to do is picture a blank movie screen before you, and change it to each one of the colors of a rainbow in turn, ending with purple. Think of objects that represent that color for you, if the color is hard to picture. Spend a good minute or two on each color, really see it well.
Go from -
Red
to Orange
to Yellow
to Green
to Blue
to Purple
to Violet (deep purple).
If you're not asleep by now, don't panic, just keep enjoying violet or segue into another visualization such as the forest path.
If you practice this every night you will get better control over your focus and will be able to use this same exercise for other things such as working out a problem or new invention.  |

I've just found the mystic radio it is really calming. What I am going to do next is to light some candles, dim the light,put some nice (rain fragrance) burning oil and wait form my husband to come from work, he had a really hard day at work and this will calm him most definitely
