Tamlyn, if I were you I'd try both digestive enzymes AND fermented, cultured foods for awhile and see how it goes. The recipe for Cortido is in the Kitchen forum, lots of good stuff there. Troy McClure is our resident expert.
Poor carbohydrate digestion is caused by low probiotics, mineral deficiencies since for enzymes to work properly the small intestine must be flooded with base and alkaline minerals. The usual mineral deficiencies are chromium, calcium and organic salt. Bieler broth is a good cure for that. And then some people simply have a smaller pancreas than others, or a pancreas that is easily compromised by the standard american diet that is so rich in simple carbs. Semi-fasting or total fasting for awhile helps it recover.
I just recently learned that there was such a thing as lactic acid tablets! so I haven't seen them yet. When I find a good source I'll post it. Until then, consider making Cortido. Great stuff! The Marjoram really makes it tasty. |

Hello !
I was experiencing problems with foulsmelling GASes, and i heard it may be due to low-protease level.
I think it's that because i lifht weights and do alot of exercise and watch out for my health. I eat food with alot of proteins (tuna, chicken, protein powders, cottage cheese) but i have serious GAS problems, very foul smelling.
Please i cant give up my nutrition, how can i stimulate protease growth
HELP PLEASE
Maybe it's not just trobule digesting proteins, maybe carbohydrates also - is there any natural way to restore those enzymes ????? |

If you're eating a high-protein diet, chances are you're undergoing a lot of putrefecation due to very slow digestive times, which causes foul-smelling gas. In that case, you simply need to adjust your diet. Stop overdoing the protein. Chances are you don't need nearly as much as you think! Certainly not every day.
Find out what your blood type is and eat right for your blood type.
In the meantime, take both digestive enzymes and live acidophilus supplements, and read the fAQ for the rules for the Power of Digestion and don't keep exceeding your power of digestion. Use plenty of spices when you cook too - pungent therapy is a great cure for gas and weak digestion.
