It really depends on the person. Mushies are undoubtably high in phosphorous, which is the acid side of the pH question, so just eating a lot of regular mushies is probably not a good idea. Then there's the fact that they are a fungus, and your body may be geared up to fight all types of fungus.

But there are special mushrooms like Reishi that offer therapeutic benefits and increase immunity. but how you react to them is very personal. Mushies are like alcohol - there's no predicting how someone will react. Best to use kinesiology. I've never tested positive for mushies so I avoid them. Don't like the taste either, unless they're making a sauce richer, like a white Bechemal sauce with mushrooms.

Mushrooms are super foods. But give the plain varieties a miss and try and find the ones chock full of glyconutrients - mostly the oriental ones, e.g. maitake, shiitake, cordyceps, oyster etc. These used to cost a fortune a few years ago, but now are almost the same price as regular mushrooms.

What about those dried shiitake mushrooms that need to be hydrated?

Dried mushrooms are fine. You still get most of the nutritional value.

Test them with kinesiology to be sure. The blood type guidelines are fun and often right on target, but not the final, entire answer. And even if they're not right for your bloodtype eating shitake every now and again isn't going to HURT. They're one of the only mushies that I actually like every now and again. They make a great quesidilla! Wink
