Hi Shelley:
Will leaky gut prevent absorption of nutritional supplements?
My question is if one should take care of the leaky gut first, before starting a program of vitamin/mineral supplements.
Or, do you think that we won't get much of the nutritional value of supplements if we consume them while we have a leaky gut?
Thanks for your advise,

It depends on the supplement. Many nutrients are absorbed thru the walls of the stomach and don't require any work from the small intestine. Others do. Basically, you want to make sure you have cleansed the liver and bowels before you take a lot of supplements, and you never want to take a lot of synthetic vitamin pills. Super foods are much better.
When you have an impaired small intestine, that means you'll have troubles digesting fats/oils and minerals most of all. |
