Hi Shelley!
I hope all is well with you! I have a question for you. I think it's been answered before but i can't find it. Anyways, lately i've been craving for ice cream like crazy. I go to my favorite ice cream shop at least once a day, sometimes even two times a day. I'm wondering if i'm deficient in something, maybe calcium or magnesium? Do you know what's causing these cravings? Thanks a bunch and just wanted to say i love this forum. It's my safe refuge! Thanks for your help!!! |

Hi,
I'm sure it's a craving for calcium....and/or the Vit A in the cream If it makes you feel soothed, probably the calcium.

Yep, that's definitely a need for calcium.
But there could be a bit of a past-life curve in there too - people who crave ice cream as a COMFORT food (which I do!), as in, whenever we need comfort food ice cream is our #1 choice, are usually people who have had lives of extreme self-denial, such as being a nun. They're usually people who choose a life theme of Experience to make up for a life where not much happened and so now they want to get their fair share of sensual pleasures.
I learned that from Toni Atell, who specializes in hypnotherapy and past-life regression and discovered how tastes and scents can reveal character. That was one fun lecture! |

So, Shelley, I hope you're telling all of us past-life-nuns to Bring On the Ice Cream!
It's certainly my dessert of choice.
For everything there is a reason.

Yep! Just be sure to drink ginger tea with it. Or add cardamom - it's really good on vanilla. |

Hi shelley, and everyone,..........................
O.K.,,why the ginger tea? What does that do?..........
Shelley, I love icecream! I mean, LOVE!!!! Especially, Hagan Daaz!
The things is I'm trying to loose weight....LOL and I can't
stop eating icecream....chocolate is my favorite....it has been since
I was a kid......I've tried, really I've tried! But, no matter what I
do to avoid eating it......I JUST CAN'T...so. I ve given up......I just
eat my normal daily "allotment" (which is about 1/2 a pint over the
entire day) and still just continue on with life....I just can't get all worked
up all the time about it!....to stressful!......I try to exercise as much as
I can....but I should do more, that I know. If it's the calcium I need,
then, so be it....I don't know......all I know is that I have to have it
or I get "pissed off"..LOL I always feel better physically and
mentally after i have a few spoonfulls of icecream.....so, who knows.!
Now, the thing about the denial and all......that was very intersting.
I do believe that's true for me! I have lived a very "bland" life, and
the idea about it being a "comfort" food, and trying to llive out "life"
through eating and those sensations......wow......probably is very true!
So, anyway, back to my question....why the ginger tea? Plus, do
you know if taking apple cider vinegar (Braggs..with mother) helps
you to loose weight?.....I usually take a teaspoon in a glass of water
in the morning before I eat.....but, it doesn't seem to really be helpng
in the weight area......... thanks Shelley! Sincerely, Starlight |

Yes, ACV has helped people to lose weight, but you have to have it 3x a day, not just once. Some people just get hungrier. It all depends.
Ginger tea helps the body break down and digest the ice cream so it's not mucus forming or constipating. It warms up the tummy so the ice cream doesn't freeze it and stop digestion. Be sure to read "how to cheat" in the FAQ, because you can eat anything so long as you make sure you can digest it.
Since you're craving chocolate ice cream most often, definitely get a Calcium/Magnesium supplement and take 500 mg of calcium 2x a day. Selenium would be good too. That should help a lot. and be sure to get some good fats into your diet, such as extra virgin coconut. Just eat it right off the spoon. And real butter, not fake margarine.
But don't deny yourself ice cream totally, or feel totally guilty. The best way to get rid of cravings is to allow yourself to have them whenever you want. And you can still lose weight on an ice cream diet, you just have to make sure you only eat one simple, nutritious meal on the days you eat the ice cream. If you get malnourished from this diet you will start craving salad. |
