The term live food is used interchangeably with raw foods. The raw food people consider any food with enzymes a live food, but as soon as you cook it they consider the food dead, even tho many cooked foods still have enzymes depending on how you cook it.
Sometimes they use the term live food to mean fermented foods, and fermented foods are definitely more life-sustaining than either raw or cooked. The rule is basically that the less work our body has to do to realize the nutrients, the more life-sustaining a food is. Fermented foods require much less work, offer more nutrients and they also add to our pool of enzymes. A diet that includes plenty of kefir, sauerkraut and beet kvass will give you way more vitality than tons of raw salads any day! |
