hi shelley,
my son, who is 21 now, has been diagnosed with OCD....now, i am taking him to another psychiatrist, for a second opinion .... but, he does display these symptoms......they want to give him seratonin re-uptake inhibitors ..... such as clomipramine, or sertaline ...i think there was anohter one mentioned.....now, the thing of it is .... i am to afraid of these drugs! There has to be a natural way to deal with this, if not cure it, and i'm sure there is.
What would that be!?
He swings into moods very easily. He can be fine for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months...then POW! and when it "hits", it's bad! He has terrible low self esteem, which just kills me, and i always try to build him up...but he feels he can't trust anyone! This is really nuts! They feel it's OCD, and i tend to agree, but not sure.
so, what can i do for him shelley? I have to do something to help him, this is awful! He is in such anxiety and panic as well. I gave him one of my valiums just to calm him down, and he slept, but when he woke up, it was Bad! HE has continuous intrusive negative and fearful thoughts, which drives him MAD! This is why they said OCD.....
i have Melatonin here, i dn't know if that would help, and if so, how much and when? Can i buy Seratonin online or what? would that help?
ok, listen, thanks again! |

Definitely get a second opinion, but it is very easy to determine if someone has seratonin-uptake issues, and if they do the only way to help them is with pharmeceuticals.
You can do a lot with diet and exercise too, but they don't usually bother with that unless they get the boost from the drugs first.
Sometimes the nervous system is just a little messed up genetically and that has huge ramifications on someone's experience of this wonderful thing called life. Get them the help they need and don't worry about whether it's "natural" or not. Help is help. |
