Hi there Shelley....
I have not been on the forum for a while...improving a lot of health issues
with a range of therapies including Neurobiofeedback.
A few things have come up over the last few months and I always wonder
"what would Shelley think"...so here goes.
1)...Eyebrows...do you have any belief in diagnosing via the look and shape of eyebrows...mine btw are sparse at the end closer to my ears.
Some say this is adrenal..some say thyroid
2 Digestion...I still find myself with a little bit of colon pain after eating a large meal...but the worst is eating late. I have experienced really bad mental
feelings if I eat just about anything close to a couple of hours before sleeping
at 11pm...I get this result from meat, even from a piece of apple crumble last nite. It takes me a good half hour to get over it...I feel depressed
and woozy...what the heck is this.
3) Glutamine/Glutamate/ MSG....I feel badly eating anything with MSG...
which sometimes gets snuck into my food even when I ASK at Chinese
restaurants. I bought some Glutamic Acid, thinking it might help with digestion...but I am afraid to try it because I do not understand the whole
chemical connection between the three. I do know that Glutamate in the brain is apparently not a good think...my mother died recently of a brain
bleed and on researching it I found that at its core lay Glutamate toxicity
On the other hand...it appears that Glutamate is a huge part of our body...
Do you know if there is a difference in L glutamine and Glutamic Acid...
Oh....one more thing...I took Gaba for about a month..and yes, it did feel
good to me... This whole triad of chemisty is confusing. |

Hiya Paul! Good to hear from you.
Eyebrows are very important. I think I list them as one of the things to look at when diagnosing mineral deficiencies? Eyebrows can say a lot about metabolism. If the outer wings start thinning and disappearing, then your thyroid is either very high or very low, and/or you lack iodine.
Thinning brows counts as aloepecia (hair loss) when can be caused by either overdosing or lacking the following: protein, EFAs, zinc, A, iron, salt. It can also be caused by heavy metals toxicity.
"Colon pain" and "Really bad mental feelings" I cannot diagnose. I don't know if you mean a hemrrhoid, or spasms, sharp pains, depression, irritability, suicide, etc. All I can say is don't eat late at night, don't lie down immediately afterwards, accent foods high in calcium, make it a relatively low-protein meal and a small one if it's past 8:00 pm.
MSG is a natural part of foods but in small doses surrounded by a great many other compounds that allow for assimilation. When refined and given in large doses anyone with sulfur metabolism difficulties is going to have problems with it.
Glutamate acid is not an acid that will aid in digestion, it is but a part of a protein. Proteins are amino acids, not entirely the same thing as acids that burn things. Glutamine is the same thing, the term of the large protein molecule while glutamate acid is another molecule that acts like shoelaces tying up the larger glutamine molecule.
All three, if overdosed, can cause epileptic seizures, mood changes, migraines, etc.
Hope that helps! |
