Hi Shelley! How are you?
Well I have been doing what you said and adding fat to my diet. It is amazing. I started with adding lots of extra olive oil to my veggies, salads, etc. I usually take the fat with a meal of just veggies and/or protein that seems to work well. Everyday that I eat the fat (and I literally add 2-3 tablespoons) I have a good BM...everyday. if I go a day without doing it, no BM. It the first thing that has worked for me in YEARS so I owe you a huge thank-you.
Now onto my question
I still think I have an electrolyte/mineral deficiency/imbalance going on, but after seeing 2 different doctors ( and one so-called specialist), they just ran a BASIC CBC electrolyte panel, they say I am fine and that is not possible. The thing is, all the counts are always high/low, but they say it isn't enough to be a concern or cause symptoms??!! I said "but what if it is for ME"...and then I get the condescending grin and a pat on the shoulder and a 'you'll be fine"...UGH can I smack them now?? My salts and iron were low on every test. I did notice that. (I use sea salt)
I do have an appointment with a cardiologist on the 14th. – I really think it is not necessary, but I will go just to cover all my bases.
My pulse gets very slow, to the point it alarms me. The other night is was hovering between 47-50 BBP - when it gets that slow, I also usually start having some skipped beats. My gut feeling is that I have an imbalance or a defiency but I cannot find anyone to dive further into this.
Some of my other symptoms are: I get extremely cold (always have), foot cramps throughout the day (not just at night), some insomnia, but mostly occasional skipped beats and I notice the slow pulse just about every evening when I am reading or watching TV. I usually don't even think about it until I feel the THUMP THUMP and then I take my pulse and it is very slow. It is probably there during the day but I am probably just not noticing it because I am active.
I read than an iodine deficiency can cause both cramping and slow pulse, but I didn’t want to go taking iodine before getting your thoughts LOL
Oh and I bought this supplement at Whole Foods yesterday too!

Hi Andrea! I"m so glad the oils are relieving the constipation! What I would do next if I were you is to take some Taurine. About 500 mgs once a day for a week or so to make it easier for your liver to make bile. It's just a protein so it's completely safe. You must be chronically low. That in turn will make you deficient in EFAs, which wll start coming up and you should see some relief in your other symptoms soon.
Which results were low/high exactly? Did they run a thyroid panel, or TSH at least? At this point it's tough to say exactly why you're going through this becuase the low bile is going to have a pervasive effect for awhile. Low iron does too. If you do the morning basal temperature test and it's chronically low, then yes, a little iodine is called for. But for now I'd say get your iron levels up to par and then take another look at your symptoms list and see which ones are still there.
Also, has your spine been looked at? When certain vertebraes are out of alignment you can get wonky heart and digestive complaints. |
