Hi Shelley,
A friend of mine has been diagnosed with fibro. He's a typical guy who knows nothing about cleansing etc. I offered to put him on to some things that could help, but I'm really aware of not overloading him with what would seem like radical information.
He still works full time so I can't see him getting to deeply into cleansing.
How would you gently ease him into making some changes?
My idea is to introduce him to the candida diet to start and make sure he's getting plenty of good water as a gentle cleanse. I figure that if that makes a difference he might be open to some other slightly more intense cleansing.
His diet is pretty poor right now, but he's noticed a difference cutting out sweeteners (never!) so he's open to changes.
any advice would be great.
These are his symptoms etc:
Thanks for e-mailing me. Diet is normal at the minute, I wouldn't describe it as healthy!
I have cut out Aspartame, and sweeteners at the minute, feel a little better.
Drugs wise I have tried different pain killers which take the edge off the pain, but only last a while, and Amytriptyline (spelling!), which knocked me for six.
Physically, I have tried exercise, physio, chiro, and deep tissue massage, also been to see a rheumatologist who diagnosed muscular rheumatism or fibromyalgia.
Symptoms, are;
Aching muscles, mainly back, neck and shoulders, but also hands and legs. Sometimes sciatica whilst driving.
Trapped nerves due to muscle inflammation, mainly in lower back and right shoulder.
Muscle spasms and easily damaged muscles.
Headaches due to tension in neck and shoulders.
Tiredness and lethargy throughout the day (most days).
Weight gain due to can't be arsed syndrome!
Sneezing sends shooting pains throughout chest and arms, cardiac arrest style.
Anger and irritability at myself and others due to pain and inability to do what I used to be able to.
I suppose that's about it really, apart from the depression that has just kicked in after writing that!
Thank you! |

As far as I can tell from my friends who have fibro, it is very definitely an eating disease due mostly to genetics, so the candida diet is a wonderful place to start. Reduced calories, semi-fasting, are very necessary to reset the body's immune system and cut down on the inflammation, insulin insensitivity (part of weight gain), esp. if he has a family history of any kind of diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. He should find out his blood type and follow some of the blood type diet recommendations too.
Find out if he has any other symptoms, particularly digestive disorders, and whether anything on the blood tests is outside of normal ranges. He should take the stomach acid self-test, liver herbs, cleansing drink, digestive enzymes, nutritional yeast flakes, and see if they help at all.
A diet high in phytosterols helps fibro, so juicing would be great. Fresh pineapple juice, or bromelain supplements, are a great help to reducing inflammation, as is ginger tea and detox baths. If his diet was previously high in copper (coffee, water from copper pipes) then he should supplement the RDA for Chromium for a week or two.
Hope that helps! |
