|
|
I have had a fungus-infected big toe nail for about 3 years now.
Sometimes it starts to grow out, then goes all white/yellow/crumbly again. at the 2 sides the nail has come away from the skin too much, and white/yellow fungusy stuff build up underneath. Gross.
I have been putting essential oils on - tea tree, others, also grapefruit seed extract. Although not as religiously as I should.
I was wondering if a fungus nail always means you have a candida problem in the rest of your body or not - I think my body as a whole has much less candida than it used to.
Are there any fail-safe methods to get my nail normal again?
Thanks |

Which side is your toe on? My one infected toe is my left big toe. Years ago, while pregnant and then breastfeeding, ALL my toes became infected. It was horrible and I couldn't do anything about it for years. That time, I ended up taking Sporanox which cleared it up.
This time, the fungus is limited to the one big toe. I decided to try Nonyx gel which really makes it look better than anything else I've tried. I used vinegar for several months and tea tree oil on two separate occasions, but am back to my Nonyx. It doesn't clear it up, but it helps.

Hi Laura
Mine is my right big toe
It started on on my right little toe, even longer ago. That one is kind of OK now, though shorter than it was. Somewhere along the line my right toe got it too.
It's so frustrating. I wonder whether to file the actual nail down a bit, & apply essential oils twice a day (tea tree, ...?) - maybe if I persist with this for ages it'll go.
thanks for your comments |

actually when you have foot fungal issues, the real underlying issue is one of calcium and phosphorus. It means your body is not managing this crucial balance very well, probably becuase you've cut out dairy but not meats, so you're getting tons of phosphorus but not enough calcium.
Study up on which foods are high in phosphorus (all protein foods including vegetarian proteins like pulses and nuts and tofu) and on your high-protein/high-phos days supplement with Cal-mag Fizz or Cal-Mag-Zinc, something like that. Just 500 mg of cal should do it.
You can treat the localized infection with anti-fungals, soak your foot in a solution of water and ACV, and occasionally take baths with baking soda to maintain proper pH overall. And be sure to take acidophilus/kefir internally.
Hope that helps! |

Aha, how interesting!
Well, it looks like I might be doing the right things, just maybe not for long enough.
I have kefir every day and raw milk, and good amounts of protein, mostly red meat and fish. Taking a bone formula that provides 1000mg calcium, 500mg phosphorus, 500mg magnesium and some other complimentary minerals - every day. Also zinc and trace mins.
I guess I just have to keep at it. I think it's retreating, these things just seem to take ages!
thank you! |

| You don't need to supplement phosphorus. I'd replace the bone meal supplement with a simpler one of Calcium, Mag, maybe Zinc and D. And you shouldn't take more than 500 mg of calcium at one time, you can't really digest more than that and after that it just causes constipation. |
