|
|
Hi Shelley,
I want to get rid of my ever stuffy nose (I think the sinsus are swollen and it feels like a have a permanent (dry nosed) cold ALL the time). I mentioned my ever pale semi coated tongue before and I need advice.
I have been cleansing and followed your advice to try chinese bitters from www.sensiblehealth.com but the nose and tongue issue still persists. Is it candida? Low bile? I am perplexed. My diet, skin and energy has improved but these have not. A naturopath told me to cut all dairyfrom my diet to clear the nose back in May (I did so - butter was the only dairy in my diet).
Any ideas (I have started dry skin brushing for the lymphs as suggested)? |

Hiya JQ!
We deal a lot with coated tongues here! The cure is fasting - if you can handle it - plus Pungent Therapy and Digestive Teas. Basically you have to raise the power of digestion and enkindle Agni, digestive fire. All that is in the FAQ under Vital Health Management etc.
If you can't handle fasting (vata people aren't good at it, we're already too light as it is) then eating nothing but Kichadi, or other foods cooked with curry and pungent spices, is a good way to go. When you do that you dno't have to avoid dairy, at least you can add back in Kefir and Yogurt, which are essential to good bowel health, repopulating friendly flora, and calcium.
The best digestive teas I've found are listed in the Sources forum here:
http://www.askshelley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=584#584
Sinuses I still have to add to the FAQ. What many cultures do but we Americans fail to do is to practive sinus irrigation. Quite essential and a great cure for allergies and the common cold. In the Sources you'll see links to Amazon.com for a Neti Pot, Neti Wash, and a starter kit.
what you want to do is flood your sinuses with warm salted water, basically. The Neti Pot makes getting the water into the sinuses a lot easier. You turn your head to the side, put the pot up one sinus, keep pouring as it drains right out the other into the sink. The bend over and vrey very gently blow out all the mucus and fluids.
if you suspect candida or other type of sinus infection, the best solution to use would be water with GSE or Colloidal Silver added.
here's a link for more info:

Hi Shelley,
Ahhh...fasting, I'm pitta/kapha. I will do the best I can and eat a really clean diet post flush #5 tomorrow. My diet is pretty good already, no caffeine, sodas, dairy, wheat, corn, white rice or sugar and I eat organic or hormone free meats and fish, lots of organic veg, digestive enzymes, ezelkiel bread, minimal fruit and aquasana filtered water and yogi herbal teas. I do lapse every now and again though - usually choc chip cookies and...white stuff!
...but you have opened my blurry (I'm going to liver flush till they are de-blurred) eyes again. I need to turn up the heat and burn out the damp in my body to clear this tongue. I was introduced to neti pots at Moinhos Velhos and never followed through (had great sinuses back then). I think I need to be stricter on the nutrition, do some exercise (as you suggested with the mini trampoline), use my GSE and flush the nose as well as my liver and colon.
Thanks...I'll report back soon! |

Hi Shelley,
Been off line for a bit and confused! My diet has been a bit wobbly and I missed my last flush due to visitors! But I will liver flush next week and I think I might have to do something about the potential metals toxicity you mentioned before.
I did have low/med levels of cadmium, aluminium, lead, copper, mercury (I do not have any cavities/fillings) etc and my 2005 astroscope tells me I have to resolve dietary & toxicity issues via cleansing this year (can you believe it!?). www.diagnose-me.com gave me a very comprehensive report (79pgs) consistent with your advice so I am getting myself organised to really tackle everything I need to do.
How can I remove metals? I bought a zapper (not sure what to do with it) but I feel once I know what I need to do I can build a holistic plan to follow (I am extreme vata/kapha and libra too!) and tend to get distracted!
Can you help? I am taking Julia Chengs Bitters, will continue to liver flush monthly with the new moons and will be trying swedish bitters (to get my digestion fired up). I probably need cayenne tincture and some ginger added to my regime, so I think i have all the bases covered ??(plus the neti pots). Is there a recommended order for this or can I start detoxing metals with the diet and liver cleanses? |

Hiya JQ! So nice to hear from you.
Metals chelation has been a pretty popular subject of late! I wrote it up in the fAQ finally so it's there under Cleansing I think. There's a nice and easy, slow way, which is the way I did it, and a recommendation for a more thorough way, which is Dr. Andy Cutler's. He recommends taking Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) every four hours without fail, day and night, about 50 mgs or whatever dose you can handle. Since you don't have fillings you could easily do this protocol. He has a book that he sells cheap, and there are many good Yahoo groups for metals detoxing where plenty of people have tried his protocol, but I think I forgot to put that link in the FAQ oops. And several members here have gone through it, or are thinking of going thru it, if you want to find cleansing partners here.
Good luck! |

Hi Shelley,
I think I do need support for metals chelation (I am buying the ALA with Vit C) as I know my daughter (21 mths) has been exposed to mercury via vaccines . Despite doing copius research, upsetting my vaccine happy pediatrician, spreading the shots out (avoiding some) and ensuring her diet is organic and healthy, I am gutted and disgusted to find mercury used as a preservative.
I will be chelating my hubby, baby and I...I need help.
This site - www.danasview.net/chelate.htm is based on your recommendation -Andy Cutlers research. Please let me know what you think as I suspect my baby has mild candida too (she has a small grey 'shadowy' mark on the white of her left eye).
She had a slight infection 3 mths ago and was reluctantly given antibotics (followed quickly with Solgars ABCDophilius formula), which I think caused the candida. She has no other candida like symptoms though - but I do not like the slight mark on her eye.....any ideas
Thanks! |

oh my that's so awful for you and your family! Aarrggghhhhhhh. I'm SO sorry.
Marks in the eye can be very telling, that's true. When the marks, which are usually a redness, is in the white of the eye it usually has to do with allergies/liver. A diffuse grayness or shadowy mark, well, I'm not sure what that would signify. Hmm. You may just be seeing how her eye is shaped, shadows from the concave part. Look for other symptoms before you assume it's candida.
Either way, it's safe to assume that she needs a very clean diet for a bit after all she's been thru. If you gave her that acidophilus supplementation during or right after the antibiotics she's probably okay. Kids are very resilient! Especially if she was breastfed. |
