Shelley, my beau has Gilbert's and is hooked on grapefruit juice. What can I tell him that would convince him to stop drinking it? I've heard it can compromise liver function but I have no science to back it up and he is one logic-driven person.
He gets constipated and then gets migraines, so I've added FiberSmart, different probiotic strains, and Oxypowder/CleanseMore to his regimen. Unfortunately, he puts soy milk on his cereal every day. Is it particularly bad for the liver?
I have managed to get him to take Liv 52. Should that be taken all year round? |

Just one suggestion, switch the soy to something - anything! - else, soy is incredibly unhealthy. It is highly estrogenic and contains many anti-nutrients.
Try rice milk, or any other of the myriad non-dairy 'milks' that are arriving on the marketplace. |

Not year round, no. Every-other month more like.
Just google liver and grapefruit juice. A regular study found out about how grapefruit juice stops liver function, and many pharmeceuticals now carry a tag "do not take with grapefruit juice." HE can ask any pharmecist about it.
I have a post on Gilbert's in the FAQ under Ailments. |
