Hi again Shelley!
Thanks for directing me to the candida FAQ. I have been doing some of the protocols over the past few months such as colon and liver cleansing, mild exercise, anti-candida diet, lots of raw garlic and green foods.
Lately though, I started taking maca root (4.5 g), ester c (6 g), b-complex (100 mg 3x/day), biotin (3000 mcg), all mainly to help my adrenal glands that have been fried by the constant anxiety from candida. It has been about four days and my symptoms that have some what abated in the past few months, have come back strong (anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, joint/muscle pain). Could this be die off brought on by the addition of these new supplements?
Thank you,

When self-dosing, only start one new thing at a time. Don't start three new things at a time! And 100 mg of B's 3x a day??? you're probably way overdosing. Back off, way off!
Check the label of the Ester-C. If I remember right, it already has B vitamins in it so you don't need to take more.
to help the adrenal glands, nothing beats licorice root and gotu kola, in addition to the regular skin foods. |

Ha! That's me, the king of self dosing! I guess I'll back off on the B's.
Have you heard much about Maca root? It's suppose to balance the hypothymus and pituitary axis, which then feeds the rest of the endocrine system. You can read more at the address below:
www.macasure.com
Let me know what you think. I'd hate to be spending more money chasing the supplement dragon!
I've heard about the licorice, but was told that it can cause blood pressure issues and increased estrogen levels in men. I don't think my girlfriend would appreciate me raiding her bra drawer!
Thanks again!

Yep, I've heard of maca root, but like most supplements that are supposedly cure-alls, you cannot be sure of getting much maca root from most suppliers, nor can you be sure that the active alkaloids are actually there in the pill. So it's best to hit the health food store and test wtih kinesiology which bottle is best for you, if any.
Licorice root is estrogenic, but so long as you just take it for 4 weeks or less it shouldn't have any negative side effects. For men, it actually tends to increase progesterone a bit because men have to have more pro than estrogen in their system, so the body rallies to balance the estrogen. In women it's the opposite, we tend to get increased estrogen symptoms from licorice root. |

The licorice sounds promising. Me thinks I'll give it a try for 4 weeks.
Would you also recommend adrenal extract from bovine sources? I've read that it can be of benefit for adrenal fatigue, but it sounds so far out!
Anyway, thanks for taking time out to answer my questions!

| gland caps can be a good thing to do. Nourishing, and sometimes they act as a decoy for autoimmune disorders. |

Hi Shelley,
After I take the licorice root for 4 weeks to support my adrenal glands, would it be of benefit to take glandulars and if so for how long?
How long did you take licorice root before you noticed the effects and could stop it's usage?
Thanks again!

| take both licorice root and gotu kola - solaray and nature's way has them combined together in handy dandy herbal pills. the change was gradual and subtle for me but definitely a change for the better. You can take gland caps at the same time, but test them with kinesiology to make sure they're appropriate. You can do the arm test while holding all your supplements to make sure they are okay to take in combination. |

Unlike the licorice root, can I stay on the glandulars indefinitely?
Thanks,

Nope! Read the post on self-dosing in the FAQ. Just about everything you take should have an end-date. It can be when the bottle runs out or when symptoms are alleviated. There is no reason to take glandulars indefinitely. They are a pretty strong form of intervention and usually just the one bottle is enough to "reset" the body's intelligence to get it in gear with what you wish to accomplish. See, we send our bodies so many conflicting messages, that often times all we need to do is send a very clear message that we're ready for vital health for all of our cells to go oh yeah, okay! and things start happening very quickly after that. |
