Hi Shelley,
This is my first post. I have been diagnosed with candida and have been on the diet and taking anti-fungals for 5 months now. Everything is clearing up slowly. I have alot of browny/yellow mucous in my sinuses still which I've had before I was diagnosed. I also have crusty scaly skin in my right ear, it itches alot, and the itch is deep inside my ear too - I had swimmers ear infection when I was a child and antibiotics never cleared it up. If i pick the scales, my ear weeps a clear fluid. Do you think this and the sinuses will be cleared up with the diet and anti-fungals, or should I be doing something else?
I also have adrenal fatigue which I take glandulars and licorice root for (I tried siberian ginseng but it made me extremely emotional), and I have hypothyroid which I take bovine glandular for. I have been taking the treatment for the thyroid for 8 weeks and for the adrenal fatigue about 3-4 months. I am still very very tired all the time. I sleep 10+ hours a night and do not wake up until after midday. I cannot work because of these problems. Should I be doing more for myself?
I take carbamazepine and sodium valproate (anti-epileptics but I use them for bipolar), amisulpride (antipsychotic), and amitriptyline (tricyclic antidepressant). Do you know if these medications can interfere with my tyhyroid or cause any other problems? My medical doctors don't take the candida, adrenal and hypothyroid seriously!
Also, I have a very toxic bowel and liver. I have terrible problems with constipation. I can't afford colonics (I had one last year and I was told I had a lot of mucous in my bowel), and I don't want to do enemas.
Are there any supplements I can take or herbs to get my bowels moving and clear out mucous and mucoid plaque?
I don't want to do liver flushes because of the medication I take, are there any alternatives to liver cleansing using supplements/herbal remedies? I get swollen lymph glands too all the time, I am going to try a manual lymph darinage massage this week!! I hope it helps!!
Thanks Shelley.

Hi Baco welcome to the forum
First thing I want to apologize for waiting for reply for such a long time. It's not common here on the forum.
I see that you started doing something with you health and have to congratulate you. Keep up and don't let the doctors let you down with not giving that much attention to the Candida, adrenal and hypothyroid issue.

Anti fungal should not be taken for such a long time as Candida can get used to them and it's just a waste of money than. They should be taken just the first 10 days. After that, just stick with the probiotics.

Congested sinuses are connected to congested liver. Before you start with liver protocol, make sure you've done bowel management, witch I'll explain later on. Ginger tea will help you get the mucous out. Also you can to mini sinus flush. Up warm salted water in your hands and SNIFF it up your sinuses. Don't use salt with iodine. Once you get some water in, bend over and with head upside down blow very very gently.
If this does not help, you need to get some sinus irrigation tools right away. There's a link to what I mean in the Sources forum. Use a 10% colloidal silver solution as your flushing fluid. Neti Pots are the most comfortable.

Oh this was my problem for a long time, while having Candida, even now it's coming if I cheet or eat diary. It is due to Candida and if you stick to your diet it will go away for sure. I remember one time my ears got so crusty and itchy that I was going crazy. I was scratching and in the end I got a severe infection that spread over to the jaw. It was very hard for me to open my mouth to eat or to even talk. That was really scary. But the good thing is that it is treatable.

If you're a guy I can understand you having problems truing the enema. Even tho I am a girl, I have to admit it took me a long time to start with it. But when I saw the after effect that it had on me I sad to myself I had to do if for me and my body. Doing bowel management is not effective if one is having constipation problems, like you. You can take P&B shakes to push thing through, but the thing is that you have to take all of it out. And P&B shakes and any other bowel management solution will simply not work best if you can't take all of the debris out. That is when to do enema or colonics comes into play. They will flush out not just the debris from your colon but all the accumulated toxins as well, leaving you much healthier and fresher. How to start with the bowel management go to FAQ section and look up under the Bowel management. Read carefully all the FAQ and ask all the questions that come to you while reading.
After couple of weeks on bowel management you can start with Liver management. Some people don't need to do Liver flush. This is what you could to, as prescribed in the FAQ under Liver management:
"To that end, you should:
1. Take 2-3 different stone dissolvers for a week to 10 days
2. Swallow a tablespoon of olive oil every morning,
Followed by the Cleansing Drink. 30 minutes later eat a high-fiber breakfast, or eat sauteed apples or apple sauce, or a Fiber Shake. The fiber will trap some the bile and stop it from being re-absorbed by the liver. It's why oats seem to lower cholesterol.
3. Eat plenty of garlic, ginger but avoid cracked black pepper - it's irritating to the liver.
4. Drink plenty of carrot juice and eat the Cleansing Carrot Salad
5. Drink Dandelion tea or take a tincture, or take Coptis
6. Take a good liver-dredging complex such as Liv.52 or Dr. Cabot's Livatone Plus or Planetary Formula's Bupleurum Liver Cleanse
Other options include coffee enemas, beets, artichokes, Milk Thistle.
You can do all this instead of a flush."

For lymph gland I suggest you do dry skin brushing, also rebounder is highly recommended. Read Lymph management in the FAQ section.

Ashwaganda, gotu kola and licorice root cannot be beat when it comes to the adrenals, especially when combined with Bieler Broth. Metagenics has an adrenal supplement, but it is really just extracts from these herbs, which are easy enough to find as pills.
Licorice root should not be taken until you're done cleansing, as it is a sweet nutritive herb that can clog you. It is also estrogenic so any estrogen issues need to be balanced before large amounts can be taken. You should also supplement calcium and potassium when you take it.
Take a look at this link for Hypothyroid Self-Test from FAQ section.
Let me know if there is something else you need.
all the best,

Hi Ivana,
Thankyou so much for your reply, the advice you have given is excellent. I'm going to try those things out. (I'm a girl by the way!) I'm seeing my nutritionist this week so I'll talk to her about this too.

Hi,
I've read that there have been reports of women developing high blood pressure and
low potassium levels when they took licorice while on oral contraceptives ...
Question: What about a green tea and licorice mix herbal ... I drink a cup maybe every 5-6 days ... Is this ok ??
Thank-u |

Bovine thyroid will not correct hypothyroidism, it's best to get the thyroid panel done every 3 months and take Synthroid until TSH is between 1 and 3, inclusive, and steady for 2-3 tests, then you only have to retest about once a year. Read Mary Shomon's book for more info.
Try Gotu Kola instead of licorice, it's way cool. Shouldn't make you jittery, just even strength and evening out of the circadium rhythms. |
