Shelley, I've had tongue issues on an off for since August. In fact, it was a burning tongue that sent me to the doctor and started me on this rollercoaster ride of discovery and healing.
I am dealing with Candida and likely metal toxins. Now, here's the thing. I feel energetic, I'm putting on muscle like crazy with little effort, I'm eating well, etc. I added virgin coconut oil, cod liver oil and kefir to my diet about a week ago, and since then, I've had roving tongue tingliness on and off for most of those days.
I like to distinguish it from tongue burning, which is what I had before when I was sick. And, even on and off to a decreasing extent over the past two months. But, this is not burning that I'm feeling now. It's tingling, and it can be felt in various parts of my tongue to varying degrees each day, mostly the morning and afternoon. I can also feel a little bit of tingling in my mouth and around my lips.
When I had a 6oz. glass of kefir this morning, I noticed the tingliness intensified a bit about 20 minutes later.
I'm also taking alpha-lipoic acid each day for the past week or so. And, again. I feel good. I just got off of 20 minutes of energetic rebounding followed by 20 minutes of light free weights and Bowflex. I'm famished and looking forward to a nice big meal and have had about 4 glasses of fresh clean water.
I've gone "#2" twice this morning as per usual since introducing the oils/kefir, and I also notice things that come out are a bit more "fuzzy" or mucousy than previously, and sometimes a bit more green and grainy (grainy??? not sure how to describe it), which I attribute to something good going on in my system.
Would all this funny tingling be a sign of detox caused by kefir, coconut oil and cod liver oil?
I hope it's a good sign and not a bad one since I'm all too familiar with acupuncture and tongue analysis. And, my homeopath regards any tongue sensations as generally bad, but maybe he's thinking of my previous tongue burning/swelling/redness?? My tongue is mostly evenly pinkish red with only the slightest white film on it. It has some uneveness on the sides which we are working on, but part of that is likely due to my having scoliosis. My back ain't the strongest. Never was.
Thanks! |

Hi Hi!
I'd say the tingling is okay at this point, it's just things equalizing from the microbes and perhaps new tissues due to more nutrients. When we're deficient in skin food, B vits and such, we actually lose tissues. Our tongue gets slick and loses its tiny protubrances. When they start coming back and new nerve endings grow a bit, it goes thru a period of sensitivity.
Keep an eye on it, make sure it's not heavily coated, and if it doesn't equalize in a week or two then it's probably time to make another diet adjustment. |

Interesting that you should say all that. My tongue bumps are a little more raised at the front tip where it gets most sensitive. Not inflamed, I can just feel them a bit more when I rub my tongue against my teeth or upper lip.
Also, I've been doing some microcurrent treatment with the doc this week, and that's quite a cell spinner, literally. I have to wonder if that isn't affecting things, too. I've just noticed a sudden upswing in my energy levels and in my musculature. Wondered if these were all related somehow. |
