Oh, if anyone on this thread is interetsed in getting their astrology natal chart positions - give me your D.O.B., place of birth and time of birth and I'll work it out for you.

I was born September 5, 1961 in Evanston, Illinois USA at 7:12 a.m. Thanks! And I'll try to get to the dosha test today and post my comments.

Hi itslaura

OK, I couldn't find Evanston on my map, so used centre of Illinois for the longditude/latitude reference. If Evanston is way off the centre, please name some other larger towns that are more likely to be on my (very British) world map!

Alternatively, if you know the exact long/lat, then post it here, but it's possible that my workings are accurate enough for this exercise anyway.

I make Illinois to be: 41N24 - 89W18

Ascendent - Virgo
Sun - Virgo
Moon - Cancer
Mercury - Libra

My my laura - looks like you're one hell of a nice person Very Happy

It won't surprise me to find many Virgo types on this forum!

Astrology, numerology, Dosha, they're all connected definitely, but it's still rather a crapshoot which Dosha you'll be based on your chart as far as I can figure out.

I'm Vata thru and thru, but my chart is mostly cardinal: Cap sun, Aries moon, cancer/gemini ascendant. Maybe the Vata comes from the Aquarian mercury? and either my 3rd day born or 5 destiny number is Vata per Ayurvedic numerology.

But my Taurus friends all fit Kapha to a T! And the fire signs fit Pitta oh yes.

Oops, I remembered you were in the UK for the date, but I didn't think of it for the city...Evanston is next to Chicago on the north, which is the upper right corner of the state and in my eyes is far from the center of the state. I hope that doesn't interfere with my niceness!! Very Happy Thanks for looking this up!

I have taken the dosha test and was mainly Pitta with some Vata, which is what I have been with other tests. I had problems with 2 areas:

1) Hair, Skin and Nails - mine are very dry/brittle like Vata, but I have freckles and I do sweat a lot like Pitta

2) Frequent complaints - like above, I have half the symptoms of both Vata and Pitta

Another part that confused me was the body type - what is the difference between "voluptuous" and "curvy"? I guess I could be Kapha because I've been having weight problems lately, but I couldn't be more than medium build.

It's all a bit confusing! (Not necessarily the test, but the whole dosha thing!)

LOL! itslaura

Yup, it still works out to be the same. I used the 7.12am as local Illinois time. So, you're still cool! Laughing

Voluptuous means that you have a higher percentage of fat to muscle, are more statuesque. Larger hips, breasts, upper arms. I should probably take out curvy, that IS confusing. Hmmm...

Shelley, I sent a request to be one of your beta-testers, but I sent it to your shelleycat email addy. Is that the correct addy to use for requests?

it normally would be okay, but Yahoo is having a lot of server trouble lately. The mail keeps failing and I've tried twice to send the attachment, no go. Yeesh! Try the editor#askshelley#com addy, that one's fine. Smile

I scored Vata: 5 Kappa: 2 Pitta 15

I LOLed at the one Kappa I got. That was the one about money. I do save and it's security. I thought it was funny to read "spends it on food", which is not true! It would be more like: "prefers to spend money, if at all, on luxuries".

I found some things for me over lap, like the "sleep & dreams". Sometimes I am very Kappa and dream of oceans (although the denizens aren't dolphins, but saw-toothed frightening things. So this is a pitta dream in kappa water!). But, finally chose vata, for the flying, running, interrupted sleep part -- although I wake from night sweats, which is pitta.

I sip my Maharishi Pitta tea & look forward to more on this!

Vata 19
Kapha 9
Pitta 16

A couple I had to check either two or all three categories.

Leo Ascendant
Pisces Rising
Gemini Moon

......maybe that's why LOL

Yes, I do think I'm Vata/Pitta especially since this is likely the 3rd or 4th test, and all the tests I've taken have reached the same conclusion.

Plus, being Vata/Pitta would explain why my tastes change so drastically between the Summer and Winter months. Although my desire for hot and spicy foods is a year round thing. Aaaaarrriibba!!!! I make a mean pot of Chicken Chile Verde that'll put hair on a corpse. LOL

LOL! Well, let me know when you're ready to try some Thai cooking. Smile You have to invest in some interesting products, but once you get the basics it's super easy and very very tasty. As hot as you wish - there's always some kind of heat. It has a fantastic blend of heat, sour, salt and sweet that's like no other cuisine. I have a few favorite recipes that don't require lemongarss which can be tough to find. Smile
